Oh, Burrell, I know that feeling. You are getting all the big important things right--if you don't get minor daily things done in quite the way you want, be nice to yourself.

OK, the Winter Solstice just happened for us Northern Hemisphere folk. Happy Winter!
My condolences, msbelle.
Happy Solstice! It's sunny and 61 degF today. I'm taking it as a promise from the Sun.
You are getting all the big important things right
I hope that's true. I suspect it's not. In fact, I got a list: Raising kids in chaotic environment, sometimes leaning on them emotionally--two big no-nos. Letting career stagnant. Not safeguarding finances, esp failing to ensure adequate retirement funds. House needs major repairs & remodelling. Husband feels unsupported.
Bah, I could go on, but I won't.
Okay, here's a few ways I'm doing things right, just for contrast: Keep family fed and housed. Shower family with love. Have a good job with benefits. Boss thinks I'm doing a good job at my job. Keep in touch with family and friends. Kids are doing well in school and socially.
I suppose that second list is more fundamental, but the first list is not insignificant.
Strength to you and your family, msbelle.
Love to you and yours, msbelle. I'm sorry for your loss.
Raising kids in chaotic environment,
Hey! They bring the chaos!
Burrell, perhaps, we should just sit in a corner today and hug each other.
mac is home and knows. long hug and some tears, but he is holding it together. wants some alone time.
I have read about children raised in chaotic environments, and a stable home location with two competent and engaged parents - no matter how much the floor needs to be vacuumed - is usually not what they mean by "chaotic."
