Giles, if you would like to get by in American society, then you are going to have to follow our traditions. You're the patriarch. You have to host the festivities, or it's all meaningless.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

She's his protege but got mixed up with the other side. Or an other side, anyway. It's kind of convoluted.

I would watch the Mellie and Cyrus show all day long.

Because books.

Twitter is having a whole lot of fun with The Sound of Music.

Dr. Jill Biden just tweeted this:

That awkward moment when you sign up your friend's family to sing for an audience of nazis.

Also, I've had Biko stuck in my head since 5 today. The Joan Baez live version. I guess it is one of the protest songs I most associate with the Mandela era. Several years ago, I was at the Smithsonian folklife festival, South Africa being one of the featured countries. A bunch of South African women in saris and other indonesian costumes explained the song's history, the Xhosa lyrics, and led a sing along that made me cry.

It seems so appropriate now.

You can blow out a candle/But you can't blow out a fire/Once the flames begin to catch/The wind will blow it higher/Oh Biko, Biko, because Biko/Yihla Moja, Yihla Moja {come spirit}/The man is dead

Our wings are not tired.

Amy, that made me laugh much that I went to look - and that's a parody account for the awesome Doctor.
