I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Maybe she just had trouble hearing. It's a shame, because it's such a big moment.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I like the girl playing Brigitta. The script doesn't really give the girl playing Marta much to work with -- even in the scene where Maria is listing things about all the kids, she says "And I don't know about Marta yet, but someone has to find out about her." Also, Gretl was hitting her notes much better in this last scene, so I figure it probably was some kind of sound issue in "So Long, Farewell."

I think I'm turning it off now, before I can be sad that "Something Good" isn't in it. That's one of my favorite scenes.

Perhaps I had a wicked childhood
Perhaps I had a miserable youth
But somewhere in that wicked, miserable past
There must have been a moment of truth

You have to remember that being a 5-time Olympic medalist means Hilary Knight has been playing hockey at an elite level at least 16 years. It's impossible for her to be a teenage girl less than 16 years old, thus the President's complete lack of interest.

My Arkansas cousins are bracing for Icepocalypse, apparently.

Yeah, they're predicting freezing rain and sleet that may lay down 1-1.5 inches of ice overnight. My boss told everyone to take our computers home so we don't have to drive in to the office via hilly, curvy roads through the woods when the power situation is uncertain at best.

However, this did underline to me the major disadvantage of having a gigantic new tower rather than the iMac it replaced. I am not going to make a habit of hoisting that thing up 26 steps when there's bad weather in the forecast.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I hate that song, because the Captain just agrees that she must have done something good to deserve him.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Okay, I accidentally had the beginning of Scandal on instead of Elementary, and didn't realize it was the wrong show, since Elementary generally opens with a creepy/disturbing/horrible crime, and there was indeed a creepy disturbing horrible crime. And then the title card for Scandal came on, and I realized it was the wrong show. So I just want to know:

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH SCANDAL????? That was horrifying.

And now Max and the Baroness get to sing a happy fun song about how you should just worry about yourself and let the Nazis do whatever they want.

edit: and they kept "Something Good" rather than "An Ordinary Couple."

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Hah. Yeah, Steph I can see where that would throw you.

And um, that's one of the good guys. Ish.

Was that an evil woman? Or just behind in her dental work?

Scandal is inherently fucked up. All about the horrible wrong choices. They're at least consistent in that. My favorite character is Mellie. She's definitely got the most reliable compass on the show. Awful as she can be (deliciously so) she's the most self-aware and internally consistent, I think. She knows her true north. Just don't get in her way, she'll make you roadkill.

I got my new swimsuits today! So I was able to swim without an atomic wedgie that actually left marks last night (when suits finally go bad, they really really do.) Unfortunately, my face was still partially numb (last shot wore off 5 hours later- and it took 3 tries to get me all numb in the right spots and a 4th to tide me over for the final setting) so I ended up swallowing a lot of air because my mouth didn't work right. Let's just say that the belch that emerged when I stopped seriously, SERIOUSLY impressed the lesson kids. And then I started choking I was laughing so hard.

I'm now $550 poorer. At least they made sure I had and used a $50 off coupon?? Everything feels weird now, hopefully it'll settle and I won't need any followup adjustments. Love 3D tech that means they carve the tooth out of a block while I nap and read, based off camera imaging. Living in the future!

Latest round of cookies is fine, but too flat. Ran out of flour and I need extra to counteract the booze. Still taste good though. I'll dump 'em at work.
