I've been out of the abbey two days, I've beaten a lawman senseless, I've fallen in with criminals. I watched the captain shoot the man I swore to protect. And I'm not even sure if I think he was wrong.

Speaking of voices.

I just recorded a meeting so I could facilitate it and then write up notes later, and OH MY GOD, why do I sound like that, what is that, THE HORROR.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I would love to sing in a choir. Are there non-churchy hobbyist ways to do that?

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Hil, that story was amazing. Thanks for sharing the link!

I like to think I can sing, but I know I can't really. Doesn't stop me.

Today my boss cc'd me on an email to a coworker in which she lied about something she'd said to me. Specifically, saying we'd already discussed something that I was in fact just finding out about in that very email. Exhibit 1 in the new series: how NOT to cover your ass. I wrote her a professional yet disgruntled email. Her reply was to tell me "we always do this this way" when in fact we have never done this this way before. I'm not concerned about the coworker; we've already chatted and she knows my boss was lying. I wasn't concerned about anything really except letting my boss know I know she's retconning history AGAIN. Now I don't feel like working anymore.

We all know what's coming, though no one's said it aloud and my boss has specifically denied it (we know how much that's worth). My job is soon to change in a way that I will not like. I'm just wondering how "soon" is SOON.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

In New York, I guarantee there will be volunteer community choirs.

Edit: Although most choirs will do a certain amount of sacred repertoire.

Thanks for the link! I don't mind singing religious music.

One of my fondest memories of high school choir was an exchange program we did with a Canadian children's choir out of Toronto - we performed together an incredibly difficult but gorgeous arrangement of Kyrie Elesion that had been arranged especially for them. I've never been able to find another recording of it.

Holy shit, the Phillipines are about to get walloped : [link]

The storm is now within a few hours of landfall in the central Philippines at peak intensity as among the most powerful storms witnessed anywhere in modern times. Widespread destruction, unfortunately, seems inevitable.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

ION, Timothy Olyphant was on this week's Mindy Project, if anyone is interest in seeing him try to look like a loser.

DUDE. I totally didn't recognize him. I kept trying to figure out WTF he looked familiar.
