I am taking turmeric/black pepper extract (for inflammation)
Does it help? I've meant to look into turmeric, because I have some inflammation issues that I'd like to address without drugs if I can.
Unrelatedly, my bridal shower was Sunday, and I finished my thank-you notes tonight. LIKE A BOSS.
(Full disclosure: I only had to write 11 thank-yous, so not that big of a deal.)
I eat potatoes with a fondness and have been drinking Gatorade lately, so I think I'm okay on potassium.
Last time I looked at a Gatorade bottle with a view to assessing the amount of potassium, I was surprised to note that it has 35mg per serving. Low Sodium V8 on the other hand, has 480mg per serving because in addition to the naturally occuring potassium in tomatoes and other veggies, it uses potassium chloride in place of sodium chloride for salty goodness. When I have potassium deficiency muscle cramps, I can plow through 4 of the little cans in a six-pack before I taste the weird juice-in-a-can metalic taste.
Eleven thank you notes is bad ass! Also, a big deal.
Huh, WindSparrow, that's interesting. I don't like V8, though.
Steph, that is totally badass.
So, RI clipped the sides of my head last night to 5/8", and I left the top long, kind of like Pink. I just realized, unless I style it glam, it's going to look kind of hipster/gutter punk. This is... not my happy face. Oh well, it spends most days under a bandanna at work anyway. It's definitely cooler, it had been way too long since it was cut.
POTASSIUM IS IMPORTANT! Taters and nanners for everyone!
My trainer told me that avocados also have a lot of potassium. GUAC 4 EVERYONE! (or lazy me, sliced in half with a squeeze of lime and a sprinkle of salt)
Sorry, Steph, forgot to answer you. I'm taking it because it's done good things for my brother, but I can't say I've noticed much benefit. OTOH, not sure inflammation is my problem, so there ya go. The black pepper extract is supposed to increase the bioavailability of the turmeric.

Wikipedia agrees with your trainer, claiming 35% more than bananas by weight.
I have found that Turmeric helps with my asthma . - calms it when I am in a bad place. but not actually having a full attack. - and it was only after I noticed it that I fond out it was an anti-inflamatory.
Glad to hear that about avocados. Really a heavenly fruit, I tell you.
Supplements: calcium, potassium/magnesium, fish oil, iron-free multivitamin, and a probiotic 2 or 3 times a week. And of course a melatonin at night.
Avocados have a lot more calorie by weight than bananas cause they are high fat where bananas are high sugar. So the potassium to calorie ratio is higher for avocados than bananas though the potassium to carb ratio is a lot lower. Would not argue for one over the other - just that avocados are not necessarily a better source of potassium than bananas. Of course I've seen smoothies with *both* avocados and bananas. Never quite had the courage to actually try one, and am no longer allowed bananas because they conflict with certain medicines I take. (As do grapefruit, alcohol, and sunlight - weird taboos).
