Yipes about the bronchitis and the ear infection, sj, so glad you caught it early.
Saw the doctor today for my check up and all is well. The diet has cleared up my infection, so that's all good. In fact the doc was impressed and asked me what I did for it, and while we both agreed it'd be hard to keep up those eating habits, she was very supportive of it. So that was nice. I do think it'd be wise for me to avoid the refined carbs in the future, but I'm not likely to be a stickler about it.
Burrell, other than not eating refined carbs, what else were you doing for this diet?
No sugar was the main thing, but that included no fruit and no alcohol, and then no carbs (ie no grains, no starchy veggies). I did eat dairy because it already felt like I wasn't getting to eat any food. So a bit onerous for everyday, but a basic lower carb diet would probably be good for me.
man, I am so spazzy and unfocused. what the hell. I think it's nervous energy about my upcoming career change.
I think you will do great Nora. You have a real passion for beer and getting people interested in it and also writing.
Mom will be here Tuesday for a week long visit.
Sometime tomorrow the plumber is coming, the toilet that my landlady's ex put in is leaking.
My birthday is June 16, so Mom will be here. We will be going to dinner AND seeing Vermont Ballet production of Cinderella. Mostly because the owner of the Local yarn shop's daughter is in it and we're buddies. And she asked me to come. I told Mom and she said we're going. So I have to get seats for that.
I went by the yarn shop today and stayed for 2 hours talking to A (the daughter who is 9 years old) because she was BORED being stuck at the shop after school and she likes me. She just turned 9 and got a kit to make bottle cap magnets and pins. So she decided to have a class. Since her Mom has classes at the yarn shop. Not a class for friends becuase she doesn't want to teach "kids". She wants to teach adults.
The class is %15, is June 29th all supplies are included and I am going to be taking it. Even if I'm her only student.
She's doing the class partly to make money (I think her mom is going to supply the suppllies). She's redoing her room and loves the New Age store downtown and wants everything to be fairies and crystals. And there's a mirror with fairies she wants. "I'm redecorating my room and it's all going to be fairies and I'm paying for everything myself. Except the paint, because that's really expensive."
It's kind of like being able to be an aunt to a kid which is nice because I miss seeing E. And I broke my headset by twisting the wires so the mic won't work so I haven't been able to Skype with him.
askye, that's so sweet!
Nora, I think your self-diagnosis is probably correct. Change is unsettling, even when it's good change.
Hell yeah, you're nervous, Nora. May you channel those nerves into drive and ambition to do what you do even better - after all, that is why you have those nerves. If you didn't get jazzed up, you might let things slide.
Harvey is going to need a recheck in six months, his Blood Urea Nitrogen is 30 (normal is 10-30). It is perfectly cromulent for a cat on a high protein diet to be at the higher end, but keeping on eye it is a good thing. I'm just as confident as ever that he is primed to sail right on through several more happy years. But yes, I did wake up at 4am and start consulting with Dr. Google.
Yay, Harvey!
Nora, you are going to be awesome in your new career.
I feel a little better this morning. My fever seems to be down, but I can't stop coughing.
