smonster, if you wanted to approach papers/local blogs, I'd recommend NOLA Defender, Gambit, and nola.com/Times Pic.
Unfortunately I only know food writers for all those, but I can maybe put you in touch with my friend M who worked for nola.com and is now with Gambit. if you wish.
People are just ... so often awful sometimes. I'm told we are not supposed to cleanse the world with fire though. Something about the legality. Morality. There was an -ity involved.
I let a veterinarian dig a splinter out of my foot today.
Said veterinarian was probably glad that you did not attempt to bite the hand that was healing you.
You don't have a cone of shame to keep you from disturbing the dressing, do you?

She's got a surprisingly awesome bedside manner when you don't try to bite or scratch her.
No cone of shame. I promised not to lick my foot.
I do have the band-aid of "seriously, previous adhesives ripped up my skin" above the splintered spot but that was my bad.
I caught up on Doctor Who, with five days to spare. Now I don't know what else to watch.
May I offer this to help you get in the Christmas spirit.
I got a lot done yesterday in terms of clean up in the house because I was having people over. I had every intention of getting more done today, but I only thing I managed to clean out was the DVR. Apparently I need to have people over every day if I want to be productive.
People coming over is a great motivator for me. Knowing that people could drop by nearly any time is a good motivator for me to keep things at a just barely ready for company. Except the kitchen. That is a disaster randomly. But can be cleaned in 20 intense minutes at worst.
May I offer this to help you get in the Christmas spirit.
I am suddenly feeling some holiday spirit.
Erma Bombeck wrote that, too, that she had parties to fix up her house.
