Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I managed a few hours of sleep. Still hurting, but not as badly as I was last night.

Okay. I'm going to call the B&B in a little bit (I figured that if they had guests last night, they would be serving breakfast until at least 10:00, and if I want the owner to be attentive to my needs, I don't want to interrupt her taking care of other paying guests' needs).

I need some good vibes that I keep my damn calm and don't lose my shit at her. AND that there's a simple explanation/solution.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Teppy, that is messed up. Tons of ~ma for the phone call, and I hope you get some satisfactory answer.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Good luck, Steph. You've every right to be pissed off at them about this. I hope they set things right.

In lighter news, I took Ryan to Healesville Sanctuary on Sunday. (He was going to church with Biyi, but she was down with a cold.) This is one of the three zoos in and around Melbourne, and this one is devoted to Australian animals. We had a great morning there, and I got attacked by a stroppy pelican. (My guess is that it's nesting season.) I don't think it was a serious shot, because I didn't move and it didn't connect. It still scared Ryan though. He handled it well, didn't panic or freak.

We also got to feed carrots and corn to a lazy kangaroo, saw a moorhen building a nest, got to watch an active echidna, and even one of the koalas was awake. Oh, and Ryan patted a goanna too. Good day.

I told my boss about the pelican. The conversation was heading off in a strange direction until I realised he was thinking of a penguin. (Specifically a fairy penguin, or as I still occasionally depict them, the Cincinnati penguin.)

Oddly, until I read that sentence, so was I! I guess I just associate you and penguins. :)

B&B Throwdown 2013: the short version is that the owner assured me that the wedding is the top priority and that all the tour stuff should be wrapped up by 3:00, because there's a play that's part of the tour that starts at 3:00.

The longer version is just more detail on the above. She said her staff would be setting up the house for the wedding like normal, and the organizers of the tour event know that there's a wedding that takes precedence.

I'm going to assume she's being honest, and take her at her word. She reiterated that we can come at 2:00 to set up that day. So at this point, if there are any problems the day of the wedding, I'll just remind her that she said the wedding is the priority.

I'm still dubious about the idea that the overlap won't be a problem, but at this point I'm going with her assertion that the wedding is the priority.

She still should have told us what was going on. What the hell.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I am glad that the B & B owner is saying the wedding has the priority. I agree she should have told you about this tour ages ago. Some things should just not be left as a surprise to a bride.

Just saw a girl here at the airport wearing a slightly large (but not enormous) button down shirt, and either no pants, or shorts so short I couldn't see them...and a hijab. Very odd.
