'Safe'

Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Our wings are not tired.

Oh I know, David, but this is a hopeless case. The only solution is to blow them all up, and she would discount any facts as lies. I have 4 hard core cases that I can not devote any energy to anymore. This election needs to be in the rear view mirror. I have to believe sanity will prevail.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My ankle hurts. I don't technically have to go to campus today, but I really should go and get some work done. I can do it from home, but it will be easier at my office. I just wish that going to the office didn't have to mean a long walk from the parking garage to my office building. (I'm on a waiting list to get a parking tag for a closer garage. I've been on the waiting list for a year.)

Do they have any of those golf cart type people running around to give you a lift from the parking area?

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Hil, that is really unacceptable. I'm sorry.

Thanks, Cindy. I wish it was that easy. I had a pretty good week last week and yesterday. Today is horrible. I'm exhausted and miserable. I had to force myself into the shower while ltc slept because I have friends coming over, but I really just wanted to nap. I wish I knew what is different about today.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

A late, but heartfelt, "Yay!" for Tim's good lung news.

Hil, I hope tonight's date goes well.

askye, one of the things I do at work is put Coursera courses together (no poetry ones, alas). We get students at all levels, with all kinds of backgrounds. Your perspective on the poetry will be appreciated. I hope you end up finding the course fulfilling. And if you find it doesn't suit you, assuming you're not doing the paid certificate thing, you can always say "to heck with it". I've started dozens of courses just to see how they're constructed and how the content's presented. I think I've finished three.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Steph, such good news about Tim--and I'm glad you guys celebrated appropriately. It's just too awful how hard the lead-up to the good news was. I hope this eases at least some of the tension you've been under for a while.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

My first therapy appointment is tomorrow, and while the immediate Code Oh My God What Is Above Red stress has backed off, it's clear that I need to learn some coping skills. I know people don't always click with the first therapist they try, but I'm hoping that might happen here.

I just hope that future appointments won't be so goddamn early.

brillig

I hate the idea of having to interview therapists before getting to the work of therapy.

You guys are much more efficient.

I took some Advil and Tylenol and rested a bit, and my ankle is feeling a little better, but I think I'm still going to be working from home today. For the first time in several weeks, I don't have all that much to do -- make slides for the next section of the online course, and answer emails -- so I can work on that from home.

Thrive to spite them

Calli that's really cool.

It's not a certificate class so I won't lose any money from it. I'm trying not to be too intimidated by it.
