I don't know why roots would require the whole shooting match.
They don't, which is why I do the roots myself. It is more that she really can't let anyone walk out of her salon without looking perfect. I have her do my color 2ce a year, and I do the upkeep the rest of the time.
I've been growing mine out. I have quite a bit of white at the temples and in my bangs. It is hard to tell how much until it all grows out. It is taking way too long!
Actually went for a walk with the DH and dog a little while ago. The weather is just perfect for evening walks right now. He promises to make it a habit. We have both been working too many hours and not getting any exercise so this was a nice change.
This reminds me of Calvin's dad in Calvin and Hobbes.
Awesome! I had a lot of bed rest with I was carrying #1 son and read several volumes of Calvin and Hobbes. The best stuff. It may have had an influence on my parenting behavior.
Ah, that makes more sense, Burrell. And twice a year, do you feel awesome? Because if you do and you can afford it, then yay.
If not, well...

Me too. Well, I got my hair chopped short about a month ago. Really short in back and to my chin in front. I haven't colored it in about 4 months, so except for the last few inches in the front, the rest is "natural". I have the same - white at the temples and then minor strands here and there.
I finally bought my outfit for the 100th birthday party in a couple of weeks. This skirt and top look pretty cute together. Plus not so formal that I can't wear it for work and such.
Bonus - the skirt has POCKETS!
it was so luxurious having someone else do the back!
The only thing holding me back is the cost. I know I'll want the full length of my hair done the first time, and it goes past my waist.
Suzi, that's very pretty! I have one dress with pockets, and I love it!
Jilli, that's a lot of hair! But I get you on the cost; that's the reason I've been DIYng mine forever.
Careful with the glaze if you have dark hair. I've gotten a glaze before, and it just made my hair slightly shinier. Nice, but no real lasting difference.
And twice a year, do you feel awesome?
Pretty much yep, because I'm shallow I guess. Good color, good cut, good blow dry twice a year is worth it to me.
Good point, Vortex. Even on my hair, which takes color pretty well, the color deposit was equivalent to 20 mins of a good color depositing masque like Aveda. It did make it nice and shiny
Burrell, I don't think it makes you shallow at all. If you look good, you feel better, in my experience. It's just doing something nice for yourself, and lord knows most of us could use more "be nice to yourself." In so many ways.
