I think I'll put my little tree up this weekend.
'Get It Done'
Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I'm hoping we'll get the tree up this weekend. We have an artificial one and it always attacks me - both physically (scratching the crap out of me), plus my allergies because it tends to be dusty (even though I keep it one of those fake tree bags). I'll probably have to do it in shifts, tree up Friday or Saturday, ornaments on Sunday.
I'm trying to figure out the timing to do the lawn decorations around the times that the lawn guys comes. I thought he was due next week, so I could do the lawn decorations next weekend, but he came yesterday, so now I have to figure out if I want to wait two more weeks, or just mail him a Xmas card with payment, tip, & a date in early January to not come back until.
And I lost the LDB Game this morning on the drive in to work. Guess it really is Christmastime!
Yeah, with two under two, then toddlers and preschoolers, it was less exhaustive putting the tree up Christmas Eve than trying to keep one or both of them from taking it down *before* Christmas. We had no inaccessible storage space so gifts rode around in the car trunk until Christmas Eve, so it was many years before we actually got any sleep on that night. My parents came up in their pjs to open gifts Christmas morning, and then H and I took turns napping the rest of the day. We did not receive visitors, as a rule.
We did have a theme that lasted many years, giftwrap for StE's presents and some of the ornaments we gave him over the years had Santa Claus on them, and for StY it was snowmen.
Just discovered this local (San Diego) business that I think some here may dig. Upcycled booze bottles:
Discovered because of a Groupon.
But as they have a website, should be available, should the product appeal to anyone here.
Mom wanted to put up a real tree this year (my brother's GF is allergic so my nephew hasn't had a real tree that he remembers). I'm allergic to Xmas tress too! No real tree. Plus I pointed out to Mom we have 2 cats in the house and limited space. Penny has never been around a tree because of limited space and also she likes to chase shiny things and shadows AND jump on things so I figured any tree would end up on the ground with crushed ornaments. Don't know if Mom's cat has been around a tree.
Compromise is real tree set up outside with outside lights and decorations that can handle being outside but nothing food oriented (because of racoons).
I'm going to FL tomorrow where it's warmer So I look for my summer clothes. I had packed twice the stuff I wasnt wearing and the stiff I was plus odds and ends. I can't find the stuff I packed first. Which means its...not here. Maybe I'll find them but I've been through every box and bag .
It's frustrating but I'm not beating myself up over it.
....and Mom found the boxes.
That weird moment of reflected twitter glory where you think you're blowing up, but only cause one of the Cool Kids replied(And I bet, with still mad respect for Chris Hayes, that, good as he seems, he's never been a CK before, right?) Not quite as great as Cory Booker(Which was like being retweeted by a Beatle in 1964, with, like, "luv" attached, but it is totally making my newsgeek heart beat faster. His wife would bury me in paperwork if I tried anything...she's an admin lawyer) And I'm still not concentrating well and stuff over the pet-grief thing, but CHRIS HAYES KNOWS MY FAKE NAME, YOU GUYS!

Neato, erikaj, Chris Hayes tweetage is totally distracting and Cool!
We journalists love our shop talk. Although on some level, I wish it was that half of America discovered my broke, crippled ass was a genius. Maybe next year.

I'm in FL. I checked out Neverwhere as read by Neil Gaiman to listen to on the drive down and a book I'd never reat but looked interesting. I discovered I can't listen to audiobooks on long drives. I got too interested. .. in both.
Luckily I had a bunch of spotify playlists set up for offline mode so I listened to those. Bluegrass covers were quite interesting.
Even though it was dark I could tell developed have decided tallahasee doesn't need trees and needs more buildings.
