Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Hil, my air mattress is extremely comfortable for my grouchy back, and I may just put it on my bedframe when my "real" mattress finally gives out. YMMV, of course, but comfortable supportive air mattresses do exist. I suggest, get it in time to test it and if necessary return/replace it before you need to travel with it. The key thing is the valve; if the valve isn't secure the air will slowly leak out all night long and you'll wake up on the floor, and the only way to know is to sleep on it. (This happened to me, my first night in my new house. Returned the mattress for a replacement and it was fine.) Also, you might want to check how loud the air pump is. Mine is fairly quiet; my BF has one that sounds like an airplane. Plus, you can adjust the "softness" by just letting air out.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Thanks. I'm not totally sure yet what my schedule is -- it depends on what time the movers come on Thursday, and how long they take. I'm thinking I'll stay on the air mattress in my old apartment on Thursday night, then drive to Cincy on Friday, get the keys to my new apartment, and then stay on the air mattress there until next Wednesday when the movers will get there.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Hil, that sounds like a good idea.

I ordered a bunch of baby laundry detergent and such from zulily because it was so cheap and not only did the box get soaked in a rainstorm but one of the laundry detergents leaked in transit and made a mess of everything in the box. Luckily, their customer service was great, and are not only reimbursing for the damaged items, but giving me a $20 credit on top of that for future purchases. TCG is cleaning up the mess.

Thrive to spite them

Hil sorry about the on hold hell and dealing with insurance hell.

SJ sorry about the stuff getting ruined by yay for zulily for offering great customer support.

I remembered what I was going to say - our leave is chaning. Instead of having vacation and sick and PTO it's all going to be PTO time. Which is fine. But it won't roll over. And depending on when you started is when your roll over date is. So Mine will be in November. AT some point in August all the time is going to be converted to PTO and I sent an email to my manager clarifying if that would be then erased as of November 1. It's not a lot of time. Like 3 days but I'd still like to use it instead of it being lost.

The sucky thing is there is no real way to plan for this. Either you use it for sick time or you use it for vacation time but if you try and save it and get to close to the date then you have to use it all up. I have a feeling this is going to turn into a scheduling nightmare.

But they've already done this with management. My manager (who is an assistant manager) said because of black outs on vacation time for the holidays (which is longer for managers) and the timing of our physical inventory (and the black out for vacations for the mangers for that) AND when his roll over date is he either takes vacation time in about 6 months in the summer and uses it all OR he tries to save some for sick leave, doesn't get sick, and loses it.

It's my own fault for ordering something like that online, but the price was too good to resist. The biggest pain was the mess it made trying to unpackage it and salvage the other items in the shipment.

information libertarian

Hil, we have an inflatable mattress you are welcome to borrow. If the week you need it happens to be the week we're all out of town, we can leave it with Teppy or something.

Thanks. I'd need it starting this Friday or Saturday, until next Wednesday or so. (Let me get back to you tomorrow -- I need to figure out logistics when I'm a bit less pain-killer-addled. Spent a lot of time last week in Maine walking on the beach, which was lovely, but my joints are now protesting that much time walking without my ankle brace.)

Our wings are not tired.

I find air mattresses comfy.

I also find air mattresses comfy. But I know folks who don't. Test if possible, first.
