I am close to tears dealing with Bank of America. We are now in our third extension of the refinance process we started in FEBRUARY, and the whole loan is hung up on some bullshit letter from the HOA attorney about litigation pending (which, for the record, is the HOA suing someone else, so I can't see how it's remotely relevant). Between various appraisals, assessments, and insurance adjustments, we are out over $800, and yet if this attorney doesn't send this letter today, the loan is dead and we've spent five months of stress and heartache and all that money for nothing.
We don't own our own house; this is a little condo in Florida that I co-own with my dad. It's completely paid off, and the loan we are trying to get is for half the value of the property. It's epic levels of ridiculous, and I'm so frustrated about it. The only reason we are refinancing is to consolidate debt, yet at the end it may end up costing us even more without any payoff.
I know this may not sound like a huge stressor, but it's pretty awful.
Pix, money is always a huge stressor. I'm sorry you're still dealing with this.
Pix, that kind of stuff is HUGELY stressful. Especially because it can make you feel really powerless. I sympathize completely. I'm sorry.
{{Pix}} They are beyond evil. I'm so sorry you have to deal with them.
Mortages and finacing SUCK. It's hugely stressful. We almost lost our house 2 years ago due to ex-wife lies on non-payment and I had panic attacks for 4 months.
I'm sorry, Pix.
Ugh, Pix, that sounds like an utter nightmare. There's no reason it should be anywhere near this complicated. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this bullshit, and I'm especially sorry that you've had to spend a significant chunk of money on something that may not come to fruition, through no fault of your own.
My dealings with mortgage companies always leave me wanting to scream "What is WRONG with you people?"
Pix, I'm sorry. It's a huge deal. And it sucks. I wish I could fix it for you.
Pix,
Can you talk to the HOA attorney and let him/her know how important this letter is?
Thanks all. I finally got the contact info for the attorney on Monday. I have spoken to the attorney's two assistants on the phone and sent multiple emails, and no letter yet. The assistants were very nice and promised to speak to the attorney today, but honestly, it may be all for naught. Just got another email--now the underwriter has decided that the letters they requested from my school and my financial planner outlining "terms and conditions" of withdrawing from my 403b in case of financial need are not sufficient. Could any Buffista attorney clarify for me what on earth this means? Each letter explains the process and outlines all the terms and conditions as far as I can tell; I'm at a loss.
