You were very nearly devoured by a giant demon snake. The words 'let that be a lesson' are a tad redundant at this juncture.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

My dealings with mortgage companies always leave me wanting to scream "What is WRONG with you people?"

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Pix, I'm sorry. It's a huge deal. And it sucks. I wish I could fix it for you.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Pix,

Can you talk to the HOA attorney and let him/her know how important this letter is?

Thanks all. I finally got the contact info for the attorney on Monday. I have spoken to the attorney's two assistants on the phone and sent multiple emails, and no letter yet. The assistants were very nice and promised to speak to the attorney today, but honestly, it may be all for naught. Just got another email--now the underwriter has decided that the letters they requested from my school and my financial planner outlining "terms and conditions" of withdrawing from my 403b in case of financial need are not sufficient. Could any Buffista attorney clarify for me what on earth this means? Each letter explains the process and outlines all the terms and conditions as far as I can tell; I'm at a loss.

Never mind. The processor clarified, and the clarification is ALREADY IN THE LETTER. Clearly they are just not going to fund this loan. I'm so upset about the utter waste of time and energy and money over the past right months.

Pix, what the hell??? That is fucking ridiculous! I'm so sorry this has been such a clusterfuck.

At some point I'm going to write an open letter to them and publish it everywhere it can be published.

I think the time has come to pull the plug on this loan. They now claim the thing in the letter isn't enough, and since we still haven't gotten the letter from the HOA attorney, nothing is going to come of this anyway. I feel violated. I mean, truly, I have never been through such a demoralizing, demeaning process.

Pix,

do you have a consumer "fight back" person in your city you can contact? This is the kind of thing I contacted our State's Attorney General about years ago when Beau had a credit card situation (his mother opened up cards in his name that he did not know about).

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Can't they do an extension? Our refi took seven months and they had to extend twice. Not only that, but I lost my job during the wait and they informed us that the only thing left was confirming employment. Apparently it was a lie, as they gave us the loan even though I was unemployed at the time.

Our wings are not tired

We've been extended either two or three times already, and it looks like we have gotten yet another extension as of today. In the annals of even more insanity I got a call from one officer saying that the extension will cost us an additional quarter percent in points on the loan, and then about 45 minutes later a terse email from another officer out in Florida saying that since he hadn't heard anything from officer #1 about the extension we've been extended for 14 additional days at no cost to us. So yeah, not only are they not talking to us, they can't even keep their internal comminations straight.

So, we've either been extended for 16 days at a cost of a quarter percent in additional points, or we've been extended for 14 days at no cost to us. Who knows which one will win.
