[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

yes, but he can't drink it since he's in pre-cirrosis with his liver. If I could get him beer, this would be a very simple thing! He doesn't do much besides sit in front of the TV and watch NCIS. I've gotten him books in the past, which he says he likes and wants, but never actually reads.

I'm waiting to see if I can pitch in on an iPad replacement. Other things I'm thinking: Harry and David box or flowers.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I couldn't resist asking.

Harry and David is good. I've gotten Hickory Farms boxes that were pretty good. Meat and cheese. They're manly.

Punishingly Intricate

We did a Harry & David monthly fruit delivery thing for my in-laws this Xmas (shared with Bob's sisters because I think the year-long thing is spendy) and they love it! So, that's what I'd vote for. Now...what do I get my dad?

meara - Jun 17, 2015 7:13:46 pm PDT #20031 of 30002

...I got my dad a card. But then, we haven't done more than that or dinner for Father's or Mother's day or their birthdays in forever. He's the WORST to buy presents for.

Erika, your wheelchair is 30 years old?!?

Always Anti-fascist!

No, different chairs--thirty-plus years of wheelerness. However, I do always get the weird ones, like the one in high school where the screws on the brakes came loose constantly--this current one takes the prize however...I had to have a handyman clamp the frame together, too. When I get a new one, I bet I can fit it a large freezer bag and take it to my health plan all " I believe this is yours!"(well, almost)

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I have a drug question for the brilliant Bitch Hivemind. I am going to be switching from Lexapro to Cymbalta--mostly because my doctor thinks it might help stop me from eating ALL THE FOOD IN THE WORLD. Anyone else make this switch?

Of all the things one should bother to make properly, wheelchairs are at the top of the list. Jeez, erika.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I think your DHL is like my UPS, Calli. Half the time UPS doesn't leave sticky note and I don't find out about the first one or two attempts and then I have to drive all the way across town to pick it up. They only just started offering the option to redirect to a UPS store, of which there is one only a few miles from me.

DHL, otoh, always leaves a note the first time. I can sign it,post it on the outside of the stairwell, and the next day it's left for me by the door. Now, this is the security door leading to the 2nd floor condos, so anyone could come by and snatch it, but my community is pretty decent and I've never had any problem that way.

As I mentioned to meara, the size 12 fits me perfectly. I checked my measurements this morning and mine are within a 1/2 inch of their stated figures, but a 1/2 inch over. So I'd say there's very little leeway with the sizing and it would be wise, if you're not sure, to order one size up.

Other than ordering different sleeve and neckline styles, I haven't really tried customizing things before. It could be that the patterns they use for standard sizes are pretty consistent, so there's little to worry about with fit if you can order an exact size, but the customizing body parts isn't so stellar. Which is a shame, because they have really cute dresses. Not so nuts about their pants and shorts selection, but I do love their dresses.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Calli, what Sail said is true. I order from eShakti fairly often, and if you sign the note they leave and post it back on your door, they'll leave it on your doorstep the next day. I've found it to be pretty painless.

Like Sail, I haven't tried their custom sizing yet (other than having sleeves and necklines altered, which has been great) because the standard sizing has worked well for me. And yay pockets! But I also only order styles of dresses that work well for my body type, so I'm already kind of self-customizing, I guess.
