Yeah--I think my issue with the size charts is, I OFTEN don't fit the size charts at a particular store, yet fit just fine in their stuff. Like where the Gap says I have size 10 hips and size 14 waist, but the size 10 jeans fit just fine around my waist (so if it were 3-4" smaller like the size chart says, they would look ridiculous, but a smaller size would then be too tight in the hips?) So yeah.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I forgot to say, I've been fitting in to store size 12 lately (not exactly happy about that), meara, so I'd say eShakti has commensurate sizing.

I have seriously had paying gigs that gave me less direction than this one favor.

Thrive to spite them

Today felt like progress but overall it doesn't. I worked 8 hours, actually 9 this week (got in half hour early both days) and I'm just relieved I don't have to go back until Monday.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I tried the specific fitting at eShakti. It was pretty poor. The bust was at least 4" too small, everything else was way tight, too. And I was careful about getting those measurements. It didn't help that their shipper, DHL, refused to leave the dress without my signature and couldn't come at any time (after 6 or on weekends) that I was home. The only reason I ever got the dress was that a neighbor came home early due to feeling sick, so DHL's fourth delivery attempt was handed to her. Does eShakti say, on their site, that apartment dwellers are second class clients who have to take time off work or designate a backup to get their goods? Nope. Did talking to customer service resolve the issue? Nope. After all that bother, the dress didn't fit and I had to pay to send it back. Pity. Some of their dresses look very nice, but they'll never see another dime of my money unless they mug me for it (or change shippers).

The padded part of my armrest is on my coffee table. Damn, I hate this flimsy fucking chair. I never even knew those could come off!(30+ years and it never happened) You'd think it was like a floor model they sold us as is, but of course everyone pays full price for it because it's adaptive.(it's kind of hype that everyone gets personally fitted too...there's a range of sizes, but you better hope you fit.) so of course, I'm thinking of The Breakfast Club and "the World is an imperfect place/who wants to steal a screw?"(the screw is in my doorway)

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I made it to Cincinnati. That was a long drive -- got stuck in rush hour traffic around Columbus. I'm thinking that, on the way back, I'll split it into two days. I can see a couple of decent places to stop overnight, but I'm thinking maybe Wheeling, West Virginia, on the logic that it's on the interstate but the route there won't hit any cities, and I've never been to West Virginia. Plus, it makes a good midway point so that, on the second day of driving, I can stop at Fallingwater, which I want to see.
