What's the carb listing on the water?
Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

0, but I thought I read somewhere once that a body can sometimes have a reaction to things that are sweet but don't have any calories.
I've heard that before too, sj, but I don't know where or if it was true. Bodies be weird.
Bodies be weird.
Word. But it's not just food intake that affects blood sugar, stress can do it too.
So yeah, with diabetes, you're screwed whichever way you go.

Yeah, I don't know if it was faux science or real science, which is why I thought I'd ask here.

Yay? Goodness knows I'm not stressed at all right now.
I see lots about fake sweeteners causing that, although I didn't experience that. I don't see why the unsweetened flavored seltzers would do it since there isn't any chemical sweetener in there.
Anyway, [link] talks about other causes.
You are doing really well with this, sj. You are not getting crazy high or low readings. It takes some adjustment (understated), but it really looks like you are going to be able to keep it under control without meds. Make your list of questions and talk to your doctors.
Several studies have shown that artificial sweeteners can trigger a rise in blood sugar. Here's a summary of one [link] I don't think something like La Croix carbonated water, with no sweeteners, could be the culprit.
Also, sj, did you see this piece about nuts in the NY Times [link]

There are no sweeteners of any kind in the Polar seltzer I drink. So, maybe it isn't doing anything, but I'm still going to cut it out for a couple days and see if it makes a difference.

No, but I have seen similar studies recently out of Great Britian. I have been relying heavily on nuts, seeds, and various kinds of nut butters for protein throughout the day.
Mom is home from FL and came here today. So, I finally went to the market, which I've been avoiding doing. She just left, and I'm exhausted.
