I'm going to try to lose weight; it has become a priority as part of not going blind. Turns out keeping your blood sugar and blood pressure well controlled is not enough to work with the treatment. You have to keep yoir hemoglobin levels high enough. While they are going to do some tests to rule the really nasty causes, they think the anemia is a side effect of the simvastin. That means I have to start controlling my cholesterol through diet. Since my diet consists of very healthy food already, and I get lots of exercise I'm going to have to start eating fewer calories. The easy way seems to be to substitute lower fat protein sources for the peanut butter and cheese I know damn well I eat too much of. However I still have to keep the carbs low to keep blood sugar under control. Cannot let that lapse.
Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I have one thought that might make things easier - eggs. I've been familiar for years with the science that says eggs don't actually contribute to cholestrol or at least not more than any other food with the same total fat. But all the studies I encountered said (in essence) "we are not sure this applies to diabetics. Eggs may well be fine for diabetics, but we are not as sure one or two eggs daily is as safe diabetics as for the general population." Anyone know of studies on whether eggs, which seem to definitely be OK for the general population, are OK for diabetics?
OMG Cass, my family has had a soft spot for CuddleDuds for years, starting with my mom. But then all us girls wore them. And now looking at the site, I'm realizing why again.
My Mom actually sent me a pair! So comfy. I just bought two more.
I've been diabetic for years, and I eat crap. But my eyes show no signs of diabetic deterioration. I'm sorry the genetic lottery rolled against you, Typo.
Most of my winter pajamas are CuddlDuds. They're the only brand that I don't need to shorten. (They're a little too long for me, but the elastic cuffs make that OK. And they're not anywhere near as long as winter pajamas usually are.)
Typo, the latest research I've seen found that eggs don't have a harmful effect on cholesterol levels in diabetics, and eating eggs helps with appetite control because they're satisfying. Egg yolks also contain lutein and zeaxanthin, which are good for your eyes. May I also suggest supplementing with bilberry and/or black current? Both have been shown to be very good for eyes.
I'm home from work early. I had to leave, not physically sick but either anxiety or start of hypomania, don't know. Hven't been sleepign or eating. Know this is bad, couldn't stop moving, bouncing aroudn and when Iw was talkign so fast co worker couldn't understand me realized time to go home.
Cried. Supervsisor was nice. Supervisor who can be kind of a dick told me to take tomorrow off if needed. assistant manager was cooll, let me sit in the office until I was calm (ish) enough to drive home. If I was saying all of this in person iwouldn't have stopped for a breath. Wish it was warm out so I could run or walk or do something. Took a klonopin (not that it's prescribed that way but I found some extra from something still good so taking it) and I'm emailing my therapist to let her know.
Plus, Will and I might be breaking up. I don't know. 2014 sucks so far and this the year I'll be the answer to Life, the Uinverse and Everythign so it's supposed to fucking rock.
Sounds like it could be hypomania, askye. Good for you for knowing yourself. Take care, and please be gentle with yourself.
I wonder if that's exhaustion or let-down or something.
Andi, I'd bet that both are true.

Typo, I've read what Zen has read and strongly endorse the black currant suggestion. I have no knowledge of bilberry, but black currant, according to stuff I've read on the internet, is packed with good stuff. Plus? Yummy!
Tomales Bay
I wanna come! This winter is dancing on my last, decaying nerve.
So, I read on facebook that Westboro plans to picket Leonard Nimoy's funeral. I kinda want to buy a vat of popcorn and watch a live feed of that.
You don't mess with the Trek! Or a cultural icon.
Or, well, ANYONE ELSE, you hosers...is what I would say to the Westies if I was there!
askye, I'm glad you recognize the symptoms and contacted your therapist. I'm sorry things aren't going well with Will.

Good luck making dietary changes, Typo. I think they sell black currant concentrate at my local health food store. It is the kind of thing that is good mixed with some seltzer.

I'm not sure they know what they're getting themselves into with that one.
