Dawn: I thought you were adequate. Giles: And the accolades keep pouring in. I'd best take my leave before my head swells any larger. Good night.

Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

amyth, I hope you feel better.

bonny, I am beyond outraged on your behalf. I hope the Remorse and Responsibility Fairy cluesticks your landlord so hard he's seeing stars for a month.

Update on the kitties:

Spidey has been here for a little over a week, and he and Finn are comfortable enough with each other to play-wrestle. There's no hissing, just the occasional 'meep!' if someone bites or kicks too hard. What makes it funny is that Finn is half again as big as Spidey (14 lbs. vs. 9 lbs.) and monstrously fluffy besides. So, when Finn tackles Spidey, Spidey just sort of disappears like someone being absorbed by The Blob.

Bonnie, it's the Helix Hotel. This link [link] might be better.

Punishingly Intricate

Hope it doesn't come to this, Bonnie, but any of the Kimptons (of which the Helix is one) take pets. There are a bunch of them in the DC area.

Compassionately intolerant

Somehow I thought my bed would be spared. Nope. After tending all the leaks in three other rooms, I finally went to lay down and my pillows were soaked.

Upon turning on the light, I found that the wall above my bed is totally buckled and there is an ominous bubble over the mattress.

Pillows are in the washer and I'm deploying the hair dryer on my feather bed and wool mattress topper.

Now I'm wondering if the building isn't just going to be condemned.

In many horror movies, there's a moment when I think, "Why don't they get the hell out of there and check into a motel?" You may be approaching that moment. I know, I'd hesitate to leave my things under those circumstances. Is there someone who can keep Cagney for the day so you don't have to worry about him?

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Good lord, bonny. That is atrocious. Your landlord is a sorry excuse for a human being, much less a landlord. I assume you are documenting all damage with photos and such?

amyth, sorry to hear about the migraine. I hope it eases up soon.

So, when Finn tackles Spidey, Spidey just sort of disappears like someone being absorbed by The Blob.

Okay, that is hilarious to imagine. I'm so glad they are getting along well! Is Finn eating more?

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

bonny, call the DCRA and ask for an apartment inspection. That is the first step in allowing you to leave without penalty for breaking the lease. There is an implied warranty of habitability that doesn't seem to have been met for some time.

It may be time to find somewhere else to live. I don't see the landlord changing anytime soon.

Hugs to Nora and Sarah.

Happy birthday Laura!

Good news about the kitties.

Wonderful news about LTC, sj!

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I was wondering who you call about this. The only thing I could think of was board of health, and that didn't seem right.

DC is really good with tenant rights. bonny is in one of the best jurisdictions in the world to get this taken care of with a minimum of hassle (relatively speaking, of course).

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Bonny, please listen to Maria. I'm worried about you.

I definitely have a head cold, and I'm going back to sleep.
