My blue and white polka-dotted dress that I wore in the pinup photos is from there, and I can say that the measurements are true. And a lot of their dresses have pockets, which is THE BEST.

Lots of people don't even have any baby stuff in the house until the baby is born -- most stores that sell baby stuff in places with a decent-sized Jewish population will have a program where you can buy all the stuff you need and they'll keep it at the store, then you call them after the baby is born and they'll deliver it.

Somehow my Italian grandmother adopted the Jewish tradition. Although, I'm not really opposed to buying stuff and having it in the house ahead of time. I am, however, really weird about calling a baby by the name the parents choose before it is born. Even if the parents are doing it, I can't bring myself to do it.
We didn't want folks calling our kids by their actual names before they were born either, but that had more to do with all the unsolicited advice people wanted to give about better names than the ones we'd chosen.

We're not telling anyone, even our parents, the names we picked. So they get no opinions.

I know not all men suck. I've met some great men! They are all partnered, to wiser and swifter persons than I.
I have that superstition too, though being of Southern Presbyterian extraction, I've no idea where it comes from. My sister must have it also; she nicknamed both kids when they were fetuses and didn't tell anyone their names until they were born.
