Well, it's just good to know that when the chips are down and things look grim you'll feed off the girl who loves you to save your own ass!

I'm still just sitting on my ass.

Hence the need for a new sofa and TV.

Not javachik

Just saying hello. I'd never heard the term ace spectrum before, although I had heard of the term grey a thanks to something a buffista once said in a blog post. I keep meaning to write to Terry Gross and ask her to do a program about it. She keeps grilling guests about when did they know they were gay. Poor Tim Gunn pretty much flat out said I'm asexual but I don't think the other TG got it.

My back/ right hip hurts. I just went to see an osteopath, and was bade to not lift more than 20 pounds, take it easy etc. But I spent the day yesterday shoveling rock, moving boards, crawling around under the house with a contractor then staying down there to supplementally insulate some heating ducts.

A work friend said long ago that the secret to a happy marriage was hiring a helper for the gardening work, instead of her husband. She can boss the worker around, husband nsm. One of the good things about working on my house us hiring someone to work with me, or for me, depending on the work.I like working side by side most of the time. The guy who's been working with/ for me us a good painter, so he's doing the paint job by himself right now.

Cleaning - every other week,$60, dust, vacuum, kitchen, bathroom, Bona- mop hardwood floors. I had to do it when I stopped after retiring, thinking I should do it myself, then realized 16 or 17 months had gone by without a single mopping being done, and it would never happen, if I keep it in my hands. I don't like but don't hate the other chores. Except ironing. I iron once every two or three years.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Cash, Owen is one cool young dude and is very lucky to have you for a mom. Plei, same goes for Lilly and for you. (And Tep, ditto, for, ya know, anybody.)

smonster, I'm so excited that you have new glasses and contacts! Can't wait to see in person!

I'm hoping to spend at least part of the day cooking and cleaning. Now that I've watched the Broad City season opener (yiss) and caught up on Jane the Virgin.

Next up: The Wire. After which, I'll be able to understand 49% more of erika's pop culture references.

Is speculoos the same as cookie butter?

No, cookie butter is the same as speculoos. I'm not being a smartass. Quick history of cookie butter: Speculoos are a traditional cookie from Belgium/Holland/Germany. Sometimes they are made in elaborate molds which create cookies that are works of art. But yummy. I have seen some of the elaborate ones, they are amazing! These days speculoos cookies are very popular and are eaten year round in these parts. They are sort of the chocolate chip cookie of Belgium. Well back in the day (which is about as specific as I can get with a timeline, because hey, not a historian), poorer folks took to making sandwiches of buttered bread and speculoos cookies. They'd make them in the morning, and by lunchtime the cookies would be softened to an almost paste-like consistency. Thus, the birth of speculoos spread, which you can now buy in a jar. This miracle of deliciousness has only made its way to other parts of the world in the last few years. Its called cookie butter in America simply because nobody knows what the hell speculoos is! I am sure this useless trivia will make a huge difference in all of your lives.

Callaluna, I didn't know any of that. Thank you. I love learning new things from buffistas. I probably wouldn't even know what cookie butter is if I didn't shop at Trader Joe's.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I love speculoos, but I had no idea that there was a spreadable form! I'll have to look for it in the import aisle of the grocery store as I've never seen it in the aisle with PB and Nutella.
