Huh, so a post about tattoos and working with a tattooist on XOJane just made me kind of irrationally cranky.
"Although your friend is probably super duper talented and should definitely become a tattoo artist , most tattooers will not want to replicate his/her drawing on your skin. Usually because the drawing sucks. And if you want it that bad, get your stupid friend to do it."
Hmmph. My tattoo artist has always been fine with exactly replicating Pete's designs. I always schedule a consultation first, so Joe can look at the design and let us know if any elements need to be resized, but he's never refused to ink something because it wasn't His Vision. However it looks like a lot of the commentators are just as annoyed by that bit of the article as me, so I feel all vindicated.
(Aaaaand now I want to get my next tattoo. I need to find a good image of the symbol for the Order of the Dragon, because I've decided it's time to really own my Dracula geekery.)
Oh Matt, I'm really sorry. All the ~ma in the world for you and your family.
Matt, Peace and Strength to you and your family. That's just awful.
Oh Matt, how awful. I'm so sorry.

Well that is a good and professional tattoo artist replicating a good and professional artist's work. Not something your BFF drew in homeroom and you are looking for someone who won't ask for real ID to tattoo it on your underage age. Embrace the cranky but I think the article is miles away from your situation (and, really, most of the ones I've ever heard apart from people who got ill-advised tattoos too young.)
So I just saw the UPS guys parked across the street, so asked him if he had anything for my building, and he did! Now I sort of believe that sometimes no one is home to answer the door. Except that day I was definitely home.
Matt, how awful. So much ~ma for your family.
Matt - so very sorry. My condolences to your cousin and your family.
I have nothing to say on tattoo artists, but Jilli's are very cool, always.
Happy new year, Natter!
Timelies all!
My sympathies to your family, Matt.
