I'm catching up on this week's Scandal, and all I can say is DAMN, Shonda...
this series is getting seriously weird and fucked up. I mean, that's evil. Covering up stealing the presidency by getting a BABY that makes your husband quit his job? (Probably won't work anyway dude). Killing a whole family cause you're a psychopath who killed the president? WTF.
I mean...WTF. I figured this season would get dark, less white-hat, but DAMN.
meara,
it was a really fucked up episode, but I was so happy that Huck wasn't the actual killer, it didn't bother me that much. Also, I think you meant presidency, not pregnancy.
Oh, Pix, I'm so sorry. So grateful that your friend's family is OK, and so devastated for those who are not.
sj, you're totally right. That was a thinko I can't even blame on autocorrect! Hah! And I'm also with you on the relief, though it looks from the preview like things will only get worse when it comes back in January. Eesh!
Speaking of dark-- I just started watching American Horror Story, and I am starting to think there is something really weird in Ryan Murphy's brain to create this and Glee. Yet , I can see the tonal similarity
Do you guys think
the president will actually die?
On Scandal, obvs. And yes,
that is some crazy shit. Although I have always been a little bugged by the fact that the chief of staff's husband is covering the White House, I'm glad he's at least as sneaky as the rest of them.
meara
The previews did look pretty messed up. I am interested to see where they're going to take all this.
Scandal is getting really fucked up indeed.
re: school shootings and Jz's post above -
the thing that is getting me right and truly pissed off is that people commenting are proposing solutions to school violence that don't really address the problem. yes, let's make schools into prisons. But, in the most recent event, only kids in two classrooms were affected. So how would that design decision have prevented this? The shooter was buzzed in and a relative of a teacher. So what then?
How would making schools a prison help those who died earlier this week in Oregon?
Earlier this year in Colorado?
All the youth who died this summer in Chicago?
Company Christmas party tonight. Do Not Want.
It's pseudo-fancy dinner at the nearby convention center--10 blocks away, yay!--wherein we'll sit at a table with people who look at me and say "Tech Support? Oh, yeah, you're in the other building", eat mid-grade catered food, endure speeches from the executives, skits with in-jokes that make sense to other departments, and painfully mediocre entertainment. Bah.
