We have an ARP picnic. CJ's team is bringing desserts so I made a double batch of ginger cookies.
Tomorrow is his 17th birthday (!!!!). CJ, KCD, B, K-Bug, the bf, and I are going out to a fancy brunch and the to an indoor go-cart place. Then, on Wed, CJ takes his driver's test. I am feeling old.
I've got to sing this Sunday too and it feels pretty slapdash. The lead guy has a great bluesy voice, but it means doing his bgvs is something of a crapshoot because you never know exactly where he's headed.

Our rehearsal went fine - it's a straightforward little tune ( How Could Anyone) that we're singing for our Pride service.
(Pride Week is in July in Halifax because the organizers want to go to Toronto for actual Pride Week.)

My grandparents each had a cousin who had married the other's (so they were the second generation with a Ransohoff/Westheimer marriage in it), and so a bunch of my cousins on that side of the family are both third and fourth cousins, or fourth and fifth, or fourth and fourth once removed, and so on It gets complicated.
ION, both kids are punchy as fuck because of the heat, and in a Daddy-only mood on top of it. Every time I get near one of them I hear "NO I WANT DADDY TO DO IT!" So I'm hiding out in the bedroom being unwanted.

Aw yay for a pride service. And I'd want to go to Toronto too, their pride is awesome.Our church has had a group in the Pride parade every year since the mid-90s. We have a pride service pretty often as well, but this year there's been an extra push from the wife of our new minister. At least 20 people have committed to marching, and more said they'd like to, but aren't sure. Since the entire congregation is only around 100, that's pretty good turnout!
Aside from the temperature, it's looking to be a great day so far. The papa alley cat is now waiting around for my approach (cat food in hand) in the mornings, my snapdragons are beginning to bloom, a sprig of basil I got from a co-worker has taken root, I found some tasty concord grapes for sale at the farmer's market, and Mom is going to take a break to come see RED2 with me. (Our last mother-son movie was The Artist last February.)
