Jesse, my stretch teacher has us do isolation exercises with the torso, hips, etc. I find it surprisingly difficult.

I had trouble isolating body parts for movement when I tried belly dance, but I'm not great at isolating them in most other situations so I don't think belly dance was particularly unique there.
I've got a doctorate and I'm making less than that.
Grrr, that's just wrong. You are NTT, aren't you?

Non tenure track? Yeah.
(The bit that Burrell quoted was me, which I deleted, then decided deleting it was stupid. I'm very indecisive today.)

I don't think I've ever isolated a body part in my life! At least, not on my trunk. I mean, I can move just one arm with no problem.
I'm sorry, Hil, do you want me to edit?
It's such a problem, the two-tier pay system in academia.

Yeah. I'm looking for a new job this year, but I'm probably not going to be able to get anything tenure track, since I've been teaching 3 classes a day, 4 days a week, for the past three years, I haven't really had time to get much research done. (Yes, I could have done research during the summers. But, that didn't really happen.)

I remember trying to work out once, doing this thing where you kneel on all fours and then kick one leg out behind you. Someone was trying to help, saying something like, "No you should be moving this other muscle." And I was all, "Look, either the leg kicks or it doesn't."
