Spike: Heard what happened up top, offing your dad and all. Don't know if you know this, but, uh…I killed my mum. Actually, I'd already killed her, and then she tried to shag me, so I had to-- Wesley: Thank you. I'm…very comforted.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Today I didn't do much. Woke up at 1:00 AM, took an ambien and went back to bed until 7:00 AM. Got up, got Grace and Noah ready. Ate breakfast. Ran errands. Then we went to the Dodgers game for Girl Scout Dodger Day. It was 100 degrees and a clusterfuck of stupidity wrt to parking and locating my troop. Then we left and I went to the toy store and bought water squirters. Then the kids played. I bathed them. Made salsa and now I'm trying to figure out how to make the side of my face, where I got jalapeno oil on it, stop stinging.

Good thing I washed my hands well before dealing with Grace's trache.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I went out for lunch and shopping, and I was home by 2:00. Which is good, because by 3:00 the sky had opened up, and a creek that is usually a mostly dry drainage ditch decided to channel the pre-dam Nile, covering the driveway between the parking lot and the road in rushing water, flooding the well named flood plain, and climbing the slope behind my apartment building until it was about two feet from my compost bin. Which is fine, except for the part where my bin is three feet from my bedroom wall.

The water went down again quickly. Still, it was exciting while it was happening.

On radar, it looks like central NC is getting whomped.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

ita !, I haven't, but my mother picked up two pieces from Goodwill that were done on dried gourds, and they are simply stunning. (One was actually carved into the gourd). Just lots of nonsense doodles and shapes, but so intricate that from a distance it looked like some Aztec mural.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Did not explode into flames during the photo shoot! Did not end up with heat stroke! Victory!

Of course, now I'm at home in nothing but my bloomers and bra, nomming chips and tomatillo salsa. That helps, too.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Yay!

If I wanted to find lightweight cotton bloomers or bloomer-ishs, where would I start looking? Summer decries that some days even the lightest yoga pants are not really inside pants.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Hello natter! I'm on my way home from Colorado, back to interviews and the looming BART strike.

...can't I stay unemployed?

Dad seems to be having a good time, and my nephews are adorable. Also, my brother tried to kill me this morning with a nine mile mountain bike ride...

I imagine a Jilli-explosion would involve bats, glitter and sparkler sparks.

So my neighbor is hanging pictures or something on our shared wall. Which, given the brick&plaster walls, basically sounds like someone is hammering in my house. Loki The Ever Vigilant is greatly concerned and insists on staring at the wall in question, from right opposite the activity. He's remarkably accurate at pinpointing the location. Up and down the stairs. Now up...

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Heh. My sister and her very crafty BFF offered yesterday to (let me pay them to) HGTV my condo. Which I am totally on board with. But the conversation alone got me energized enough to do some serious dejunking and a fair bit of rearranging today.
