Zoe: Yeah? Thought you'd get land crazy that long in port. Wash: Probably, but I've been sane a long while now, and change is good.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

If I wanted to find lightweight cotton bloomers or bloomer-ishs, where would I start looking? Summer decries that some days even the lightest yoga pants are not really inside pants.

Etsy, mostly. Ooh, or Recollections!

Hello natter! I'm on my way home from Colorado, back to interviews and the looming BART strike.

...can't I stay unemployed?

Dad seems to be having a good time, and my nephews are adorable. Also, my brother tried to kill me this morning with a nine mile mountain bike ride...

I imagine a Jilli-explosion would involve bats, glitter and sparkler sparks.

So my neighbor is hanging pictures or something on our shared wall. Which, given the brick&plaster walls, basically sounds like someone is hammering in my house. Loki The Ever Vigilant is greatly concerned and insists on staring at the wall in question, from right opposite the activity. He's remarkably accurate at pinpointing the location. Up and down the stairs. Now up...

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Heh. My sister and her very crafty BFF offered yesterday to (let me pay them to) HGTV my condo. Which I am totally on board with. But the conversation alone got me energized enough to do some serious dejunking and a fair bit of rearranging today.

Oof, just got an email from my cousin who lost his dad last week. He's doing ok,just had remembered a summer where we'd laughed until we'd peed ourselves (no, we did. I remember that we were not embarrassed, it just made us laugh harder. There were 5 or 6 of us), reaching out, as we're spread across this continent.

He's hurting (duh) and it sucks, but I'm glad he got in touch. Even though he's a horrible randomramblerrunon. I can parse it. One of the things I loved about his dad, my Uncle Frank, was that his emails were as run-on in topic as mine. So with Joey, I don't get the same formal grammar and complete sentences, but he will put up with my runonthoughts and I'll put up with his runonsentences.

19 wildland fire fighters dead in Arizona. Please, goddess, don't let Hubby see that on the news.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I slept in today! AND I cleaned the bathroom and kitchen and did all the laundry (except for the two shirts I missed) and swiffered and dealt with the litter box and paid bills. Now I should go to bed so I can get up early to get my city sticker which I forgot about because of being in the Jungle all of June (which opens tomorrow!) And I fear I'm rambling because I'm drinking a bit. Yeah.

Oh, damn. Bad timing on my post. Very sad news.

Oh, that's awful!

In much more minor fire news, while I was traveling home from Colorado today, some local hoodlums playing with illegal fireworks nearly burned my house down. The house is safe (except for one cracked window), but the hedge on that side of the house is completely gone, and I fear for my rose bushes.

My neighbors spotted the fire and put it out (or contained it) long before the firetruck arrived, for which I am immensely grateful.

Fuck, man. I'm so lucky.

Shit, Suela, that is lucky neighbors, but jesus.

I am Prided out. Saw two different girls Friday I would've loved to see again, but didn't. Saw my ex every 30 seconds Friday, but only a couple times Saturday and not at all today. And after hitting the parade and then chilling at the bar for a few hours, I'd almost given up and was feeling kinda down about the whole thing, but a friend agreed to go back to the bar for more chilling and then put up with me being a 7th grader until I finally (after like, eight "let's just walk past...") talked to her. And then talked to her friend for a solid 15 minutes while I flirted...and didn't hate me when finally I was like "OK, nice to meet you gotta go bye!" when I decided she was too drunk to bother with, no matter how cute she was. Yay good friend...and yay up note at the end of Pride (because hey, she might've been drunk, but she was cute and flirting with me). And never again until next year will I see as many women out at once. Sigh.
