The guy I had a half-hour phone interview with a couple of weeks ago now wants me to come in for a 45 minute "first round" interview. This process could take literally forever!
Gah, I know the feeling. Now I'm all worried that I priced myself out of the job I interviewed for last week, although I did say that any decision I made wasn't going to be based solely on salary.
... Is a week too soon to ask how their discussions are going?
I don't think a week is too soon, although be prepared for the answer to be "we haven't had a chance to talk about it yet."
At least I didn't underprice myself! In the phone interview, he asked what I wanted, and I said "I wouldn't consider leaving here for less than $X," and he said, "We're thinking about $X+Y." So that's good.
Good lord. It's all sunny and gorgeous out and I disappear into the server room for 20 minutes. I come out and it is dark and WHOA THUNDER.

Aw man, looking at the map, it looks like they aren't stopping any time soon. Big rotation centered over WVa. Swim outlook poor.
We've had a couple quick showers. I just popped out and checked under the Shademaker 2000 and it's quite acceptably dry there, both table and seat, so I might yet get to sit and read out in the yard today.

ION - I had to order a new power cord for my laptop and I did - on April 20th. I somehow forgot to give them my new address but I have a forwarding address in play so it should be okay except that Dell says that the package was delivered to my old place. . . the USPS says that it could take up to 30 days for something to get to me.
Which do I believe? Is is sitting at my old address? Or is it in Post Office limbo?
I had to send my birth date into my new Employer's office so I can be set up in ADP and there is a small, insane part of my brain which is paranoid that they will now not want me because they think I am too old. Feh.
I'm about to participate in a conference call while sitting in a Starbucks. Not sure how well this is going to go, and I think I'm fulfilling at least one stereotype, just not sure which one.

Feh, indeed! Not that your paranoia isn't warranted to some degree. There's a lot of age discrimination in hiring these days. But you're already hired! And you're awesome and they'll be happy to have you.
