Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Hey, I only dry off once i'm clean, right? How dirty are the towels gonna get? (yeah, yeah, I know, it's flawed logic but there's my brain.)

I'll see you that logic and raise you "I shower at night and am NGA, how dirty are the sheets going to get?". I just don't do them all that often.

You're not allowed to say that, Consuela. It's unpatriotic. You're supposed to shake your head and vilify either the boy or his assumed bullies (what the hell, might as well vilify the parents too), then throw up your hands and say "if only there was something we could do!, if only someone had a concealed weapon on him so he could... uh, protect... uh... mumble"

And then launch into a completely unsubstantiated rant about how gun control doesn't do anything anyway... and that there is no such thing as knife control (though there is, and people only rarely stab themselves to death)... and how terrorists use bombs anyway and gun control wouldn't have helped that (though tags in the gunpowder would have been handy, thanks for blockin' that, NRA)... Be sure to be really indignant the whole time.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

We wash the sheets every week. They need them, mostly to get rid of the cat hair which somehow ends up all over them.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Just before bed, Franny asked me to check her head for lice. Bingo! So we had to treat her head and strip all the sheets off the beds. Kids got to sleep an hour late, which isn't good.

I gave every head a thorough combing. Luckily no one else had it. Shockingly lucky. Not sure how we dodged that one, esp me, but I'll take it. Isaac and Cody dodged it by dint of never brushing their hair. Come to think of it, don't think Franny brushes that often either. Even so, I'm quarantining all the brushes in the front bathroom for the next few weeks.

Lice are a PITA.

I am so glad I have never had lice! My dog had horrible fleas when I was a kid (we could see them crawling on her) and that was impossible to get rid of.

I was just reading a 1960 college yearbook, and the page heading for fraternities is:

"Fraternities....gay socialism and cool conformity"

which is oddly true, but I cannot stop laughing- especially the socialism part!

We fight lice by encouraging dirty hair in our kids. Casper's old enough that her hair starts to look greasy after about 4-5 days without a wash, though, so now we make her wash it twice a week. (Given the choice, my children would never bathe.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't know why I thought I could read that at my desk and not cry. I am so happy. So excited and proud, and that's a great interview and an amazingly well spoken guy (it shouldn't have to be a well spoken guy who comes out first, but sure doesn't hurt). My sister will be beside herself.
