One of my meetings today was with a very phlegmy person. Staying on track was difficult.
And one of my meetings had someone say "Have you had lunch? No? Okay--I'm going to send you this presentation to work on and we'll meet again at 2." Perhaps not dramatically reasonable a thing to say to a hungry person (while you eat...) after 1.
I am going to get some lunch, not from as far away as I'd originally planned, because I'm also going to spend some time trying to shake this headache. And I'll meet again with him when I have something new to say.
We're parked on the couch at the place where we stayed the night, and the daughter of the house (30ish) is home because the school where she teaches closed early today. She's put on "Best Ink", which I guess is a tattoo competition show, and this is the stupidest show I've ever seen.
No, wait, second stupidest show, because there's also a show about people with horrible tattoos.
They refer to people as skins! Creepy!
Thinking of a new username for a site is really hard when the ones you'd normally use are taken.
She's put on "Best Ink"
Oh, my god. Pete Wentz is the host?!
HOUR LUNCH???? Who does that?
Actually, resting in my car helped a lot. Still, the mac and cheese I bought for lunch tastes too slick for me to eat most of it, but it will keep in my fridge for a while.
This [link] is a very depressing article about why ad-supported sites have to suck. I installed AdBlock this week for the very first time, so now I may be part of the problem. But I'm still trying to see how it changes my experience, and so far not an entire win.
I do hour lunches all the time.
We're doing a new website; we've hired a company to do the design and set-up. I had reservations, because they did our current website ... and didn't do a stellar job. For instance, there's a place to do a search ... but it doesn't work. Never had worked. Requests to them to make it work, when the current site was new, were pretty much ignored. The system we're using for updating the web is outdated and deteriorating - things that worked a while ago no longer work and requests for help are met with the response that, essentially, it's old and shit happens.
Now, with the new site, I'd made multiple requests for specs - image sizes, color formulas, etc. ... and they ignored me. They finally came up with some image sizes, although they're going to have more. And they sent over a "template" to use in Photoshop to create images for our front page "carousel". Only I can't use it. I tried to ... and things didn't work. And the fonts they used for text are ones I don't have. It's set up so I can't do batches of these images - I can only do one at a time. We're supposed to start doing some work on learning how to use the new web management system tomorrow and I dread finding out what doesn't work this time around.
I am required to take an hour lunch. HATE.
Timelies all!
I get a half-hour lunch. When I bring lunch, I'm usually done in 15 minutes. (Lunch is usually a sandwich, soda and an apple. Pretty easy to finish it quickly.)
