this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I think every town closed schools around here except for Essex, and on facebook parents were bitching (on the newspaper's update on school closings) I think a lot of parents kept their kids home.

Apparently my brother went to work in Montpelier today (he cooks lunch at the 3-Penny Tap Room, if you and Will are ever down there). His wife is out of town for work -- in Mexico. Way to dodge the storm!

Because books.

The COO is here, and he's just as much of a pompous blowhard as everyone said he was! Ugh.

However, I am going to bake scones.

Mmmm, scones.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Okay, firewood hauled! It was actually almost a rick. So that's good.

It's a physically demanding task, but a very satisfying one. I am ready, storm!

hip deep in pie

I can't wait to go panic shopping tonight. My list: cat food from the vet, road salt, cat food from the grocery store, black beans

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

...my life really isn't like your lives, is it?

Not really, Liese. But I love hearing about it! Me, I checked the weather to see what kind of shirt I need to bring to the climbing gym, which is unheated. It won't break out of the 50s, today, so I will bring a thermal shirt. (Yes, yes, thin-blooded Bay Area resident, I know.)

Today I walked the dog and made reservations for dinner with a friend, and I'm going to get my hair cut and go climbing and pick up my shoes from the resole guy and go meet with the staff at my parents' place to figure out what happens next.

My dad's cognitive issues have gotten bad enough that we have to get him evaluated by a neurologist, and presumably he will have to stop driving. This is not going to please my mother, I can tell you. And I'm going to have to have a conversation with him about giving me access to his accounts, sigh.

I'm going to go over my monthly limits on the phone again, I can tell...

Oh, Suela, that is just painful. But at least they're already in a place where his cognitive limits can be dealt with? maybe?

ita, fingers crossed on the nurse thing.

So the average value of a Buffista is 2 bucks?

Well, I mean, marginal cost to see in person vs see online?

Today I need to get shit done, but instead am going to take a field trip to a store that is going out of business, and hope I can find an awesome and cheap pair of cowboy boots. Maybe.

And tomorrow is Dance Day! The local ballroom is running a "$5 for a day of dance" and doing half hour lessons all day long in all the styles they teach, so I'm going to take a few of those.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

...my life really isn't like your lives, is it?

Well, you could bake... some of us are baking today

I'm so sorry about your dad, Consuela. It's going to be tough. I'm just glad that you got them moved before his cognitive issues rose to the fore.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

It turns out, when you remove leadership from one whole section of the company you have to do a lot of shifting of people really quickly. All those shifts are coming from or into my department. I just had to draft the announcement. No one has an answer for me on how this impacts who I support. I foresee at least 2 more weeks of chaos, then a month or so of general unorganizedness. Then a calm of 1-2 months followed by reorganization.
