Kenji Lopez-Alt at Serious Eats is doing another vegan month, which should result in some excellent recipes, FYI. [link]
If I start there, then I take less beating. Might just be my workplace.
That's basically what I did. I didn't say who didn't do their jobs right other than me, just that I hadn't checked to make sure everyone had done their jobs right, therefore I hadn't done mine.
And I've told the people concerned in private what went wrong, and how I'm going to up the level of validation and why--I hope they get that by me taking the entire flak for their fuckup that me changing the rules is the best possible result of this scenario, since no management knows who precisely failed where.
There are some business analysts/project managers here that will throw people under the bus, but one way or another I don't think that's useful.
My manager has booked ninety minutes for our one on one, though--it usually takes half an hour. So I can't properly exhale until four thirty.
I have nothing I need to do quickly today, so I'm going to make sure everything I do, I do thoroughly at least. Excessively, if need be.
Ugh. I hope things go more smoothly than you expect.
I am no longer writing comments on papers. I'm writing see me instead. It's faster for me to explain than it is to write it out.
GodDAMN, Hec. That woman almost convinced me to get a fade. She looks amazing.
Right? She worked her way down from a side shave with long hair to a flattop that looked amazingly Grace Jones cool.
The kind that makes mortal humans wonder why their lives don't look like staged and retouched professional photographs.
I guess she's primarily a stylist for photoshoots and does the modeling on the side. That does help with staging your life.
Jesse,
thank you for that. I am not vegan, but I don't mind eating vegan recipes. Especially if they are tasty. I'd like to eat less meat, but I am not sure I can give up fish and poultry!
I think he has a really approachable attitude, as a part-time vegan. So that makes the recipes doable to me -- they don't have a ton of ingredients I wouldn't already have in the house, which helps.
I will say, he used to work at Cook's Illustrated and can get into that "best possible method" thing that drives me crazy, but it's usually clear when that's what he's doing.
Allyson (or someone who knows her),
have you found a resolution to the current situation? I've been thinking about you and hope that various things have been worked out in the short-term.

The last guy who cut my hair tried to *style* my hair, and I gave in because it seemed the fastest way to end the conversation. So I let him line up or whatever that's called. A fade would be an actual style, so the question is--can I be as lazy growing one of those out as with the all-over buzz cut?
Consider me piqued--I haven't had a hairstyle since the beginning of being blonde.
I've also been quietly worried about Allyson.
