we have soccer at 1:30, until I am stealing Kat's wish and sitting in the recliner and watching tv. one benefit of an older mac, he can entertain himself (as long as it is electronic).
Natter 70: Hookers and Blow
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
It is nothing but rainy and dreary here today. Which leads to (1) oversleeping, because the bedroom never got morning sunlight, and (2) the incomparable smell of wet dog, since Kato hates to be toweled off when he comes in. I would corner him with a blow-dryer, except then the smell would be HOT wet dog. Ick.
Happy Saturday, y'all! Man, last night was the third night in a row I wasn't awake for hours at a stretch. Amazing how good I feel today.
The plan for later today is to take a trip to Target (and the nearby burger stand with the awesome milkshakes) to return a few things and pick up a few more. M's dept threw him a baby shower yesterday, so we now have more swaddles & burp cloths than we can imagine needing (having said that, we'll probably go through them all in 48 hours), but we're still missing a few things I think we'll probably want pretty soon -- a changing pad, a second car-seat base, etc.
I must admit, I'd never given much thought to gift receipts before all these baby showers (I had two -- one given by my choir and one at work), but now I will never give a shower gift without one. We have received no fewer than four "baby bathtime" kits, with only one gift receipt among them; I'm hoping one of our other currently pregnant friends will want at least one of our extras. We also received a very nice baby monitor that we had registered for, as well as another baby monitor of a different brand, with no receipt. Of course, the one with no receipt gets much worse reviews overall and is the one we'd rather return if we could. I guess we'll probably keep both for now and try the one we can't return first; if we're happy with it and it doesn't break down right away (a common complaint, apparently), we'll return the other one. But I admit I'm a little miffed at feeling like we can't use the one we actually wanted. (Though I am certainly grateful for both gifts! They were both very thoughtful; it's just that one might not be quite right for us.)

Heh. Emmett needed a burp cloth for every meal he ever had until he was two. Matilda? Never. Some are more blurpy than others.
Babies are coming!
Bubblewrap suit for Pix. And a bike helmet.
I've marketed, pedicured and shopped. Load of laundry in the washer, which I have to monitor because it has Devi's cube in it (my mom has the same washer and assures me it can be done.) After the spin cycles end, I can start cleaning (can't have the vacuum drown out the sound of the washer unbalancing....)
Then swim, then manicure, then fall down?
Went to Target and bought many things! Mostly serving items for this party, which isn't for a month, but today seemed like a good day for Target, and now I can check that off. Also got frozen mini-quiches, which is several to-do items in one! So that's good. I can tell already, there will be many cab rides the weekend of the party -- this stuff ended up being heavy to carry, even empty (and plastic)! Oops.
San Franciscans--I'm meeting some friends in the Mission for dinner, and we decided to meet a little earlier for drinks. Where should we go?

There's a really nice bar next to Pauline's (near Valencia and 14th). Let me find it for you...
Okay, it's the bar at the restaurant Another Monkey.
Another Monkey. (Just go to the bar - I can't vouch for the food.)
Also, consider Pisco Latin Lounge.
Or Martuni's.
Or my old haunt The Orbit Room. (Not quite in the Mission, but around the corner basically.)
If you don't want fancy cocktails but something more Mission-like, Delirium.
Oy. Took me three hours to make the first hour and a half of my trip today. Lots of snow. The SO says he got about 4-5 inches at home already. But I'm below the snowline now, more or less, so the rest should be easy. Taking a Denny's break in the meanwhile.
