Bubblewrap suit for Pix. And a bike helmet.
I've marketed, pedicured and shopped. Load of laundry in the washer, which I have to monitor because it has Devi's cube in it (my mom has the same washer and assures me it can be done.) After the spin cycles end, I can start cleaning (can't have the vacuum drown out the sound of the washer unbalancing....)
Then swim, then manicure, then fall down?
Went to Target and bought many things! Mostly serving items for this party, which isn't for a month, but today seemed like a good day for Target, and now I can check that off. Also got frozen mini-quiches, which is several to-do items in one! So that's good. I can tell already, there will be many cab rides the weekend of the party -- this stuff ended up being heavy to carry, even empty (and plastic)! Oops.
San Franciscans--I'm meeting some friends in the Mission for dinner, and we decided to meet a little earlier for drinks. Where should we go?

There's a really nice bar next to Pauline's (near Valencia and 14th). Let me find it for you...
Okay, it's the bar at the restaurant Another Monkey.
Another Monkey. (Just go to the bar - I can't vouch for the food.)
Also, consider Pisco Latin Lounge.
Or Martuni's.
Or my old haunt The Orbit Room. (Not quite in the Mission, but around the corner basically.)
If you don't want fancy cocktails but something more Mission-like, Delirium.
Oy. Took me three hours to make the first hour and a half of my trip today. Lots of snow. The SO says he got about 4-5 inches at home already. But I'm below the snowline now, more or less, so the rest should be easy. Taking a Denny's break in the meanwhile.
Hec just tried to tilt the shower head, and the whole thing snapped off in his hand. Matilda and I went in to inspect the damage and brought the severed head back out to the living room; as we walked, she pondered it, turned it over and over in her hands, and said mournfully, "Oh, this is
really
unfortunate."
There really should be a "Shit Matilda Says" blog or something....
Hec doesn't know his own strength!
Speaking of unfortunate events, I just finished reading the first Lemony Snicket book, and I liked it but I don't think I'll be reading it again. So if someone would like to give it a new home, e me and I'll pass it on.
