Jayne (Husband): Oh, I think you might wanna reconsider that last part. See, I married me a powerful ugly creature. Mal (Wife): How can you say that? How can you shame me in front of new people? Jayne (Husband): If I could make you purtier, I would. Mal (Wife): You are not the man I met a year ago.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

This is the most ludicrous thing I've seen linked to Easter (and to car repair) so far this year. Lord have mercy.

Sometime overnight my laptop battery died. I am not happy.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Look at this fucking hipster 18th century trephination set: [link]

Trephines are the surgical devices used for trephination, or trepanning. The basic practices and tools have remained largely unchanged for centuries. Among the trephines themselves, with their cylindrical blades, are a large brace to hold the trephines during drilling, two rugines to remove connective tissue from bones, two lenticulars to depress brain material during surgery and a brush to remove fine fragments of bone. The styling of the instruments and their box reflects a long tradition of producing surgical and scientific instruments as finely crafted, gentlemanly possessions.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I got to see a presentation about 1800s era dentistry at Old Sturbridge Village a few years back, by a practicing dentist who had a collection of historical instruments. He pointed out that most people think they look very modern... but that given that human mouths and human hands haven't changed much since then, they're one aspect of dentistry that haven't needed to change.

That argument, however, doesn't apply to gynecological instruments.

Now tagless for your comfort.

How did that guy get elected in Wisconsin, anyway?

I wish I knew. I wish. Blergh.

Why does "tossing salad" mean that other thing that "tossing salad" means?

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

Not only is the no disparity in pay between genders, if there was, it wouldn't matter because "you could argue that money is more important for a man."

He gets his "facts" from Ann Coulter?! AUGH.

Maitenance is jack-hammering somewhere near my front door. Not close enough to see right outside the door and I don't feel like putting on a bra to investigate.

msbelle, did I steal your motivation? I am trying to accomplish a crapton today.

yes, you must have. darn you.

ION, mac has been to the school nurse this morning, that makes 3 visits in the last 5 days of school. He complains of "not feeling well and a sore throat". He played all weekend, has had no fever, has eaten both spicy and hard food - granted did have a few coughing fits that said made his throat hurt, but that was a minute amount of time. So either is really wrong, but not bad enough to cause major discomfort or he wants to avoid classroom time. Tomorrow is a Dr. visit to get this sorted (oh and get his blood drawn for some lab work for the psychiatrist - he will not like that one bit.)
