"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Not likely, it would have to be ratified by 75% of the state legislatures. The last time it happened was 20 years ago, and that was to place limits on how soon Congressional pay increases could take effect (an issue that you'd probably get near-unanimous voter agreement on).

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Sullivan:

One small note. Above, Romney says that we should not discard 3,000 years of history of one-man-one-woman marriage. Ahem. His own family were ardent polygamists only a century ago - and went to Mexican colonies to escape US federal oppression of their version of marriage (which also goes back a long, long way and still exists across the world). Romney's great-grandparents were polygamists; one of his his great-great-grandfathers had twelve wives and was murdered by the husband of the twelfth.

For Romney to say that the definition of marriage has remained the same for 3,000 years is disproved by his own family. It's untrue. False. A lie.

Heh.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

DOMA is still in effect, isn't it?

also also? 2 20 minute visits with co-worker friends is messing up my tracking sheet. Maybe I work thru lunch and shift when those happened to fit the document?

Ann, that's a ferret.

Oh, great. Once again, my family and I are going to be targets in an election.

Trust my rage

msbelle, when I worked for the law firm two years ago, we didn't bill hourly, but I still tracked my time in 6 minute increments. It actually made me so stressed out that I just switched to a end of day "estimate". Which maybe you can't do, but I find tracking my time to induce huge amounts of non-productive stressed-out delays.

Actually, when I worked for DHS, I had to do the same thing, but since it wasn't assigned to a client, it was easier to just estimate.

cereal:

I mostly a skimmer these days, but I am feeling seriously down about this country today. The anti-SSM hatred in this country just depresses me. I supposed even more so because I am a Christian and I don't find the two to be at all in opposition with each other.

And I just got two different emails from two different organizations. Apparently the House is voting on a bill, likely to pass, that strips a lot of protections and benefits from immigrant victims of domestic violence. With all that is wrong in this country, why are we protecting abusers and stripping benefits from victimized women and children (and a few men)? It's just depressing.

Oh, and I heard on NPR this morning that Republicans in Congress want to fix the Pentagon budget issues by cutting medicaid and food stamps. Seriously, again, crushing hungry women and children without health insurance for the benefit of the powerful. Seriously, so depressing.

Stephanie, I did the same when I was in consulting. It's a waste of staff time & energy to be so anal, and it punishes people for doing "non-productive work" like coordinating with coworkers, or reviewing literature.

Yeah, that's why I said "voters."

Ooops, sorry. I only read the last post before responding.

I don't see how they would have support for a Constitutional amendment...

It won't happen.
