So that's my dream. That and some stuff about cigars and a tunnel.

I've barely taken any vacation this year, so I'm taking Friday off to see The Avengers multiple times. It's basically a nerd holiday, right?

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I just got a ticket to the opening of The Iceman Cometh. Starts at 7pm, ends around 11:30. I may need to take a protein snack.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Hey, does anybody remember the British coffee ads that were a hunky actor reading from the classics? "Are you sitting comfortably? Then we'll begin." I don't know if it still exists. I've been pootling around and so far I haven't found it. Anybody?

Beverly, MetaFilter seems to think it's Carte Noire UK.

That's it! Thank you! My search-fu failed. Hail yours!

Lee, what's wrong with your house/yard?

I rolled my eyes a lot all day long--scheduling, rescheduling, meetings where one thing was decided and five minutes later emails where something else was communicated, right hand knows not what the left hand is doing...but the bottom line seems to be I will NOT be going to Waterloo, IA, which I am perfectly happy about.

But then I went to acupuncture and then to a "Dirty Queer Sex Tour" where people read from this new erotica book one of my friends has a story in, and lots of my friends were at the reading and it was so nice to see everyone. And there was a bit of eyecandy, so yay.

Okay! I think I've got everybody that worked on your circle of friends afghan, Maria! Both the blanket and the rosary were Plei's idea. Beverly headed up the rosary search. Many people donated funds that went either to the rosary, the yarn, or the gift cards.

If I have missed somebody, please please let me know so I can correct it! On the flickr photo, I have tagged which strips/squares belonged to which knitter; thanks to Sox for helping me figure that out!

Knitters/Crocheters:

  • Jen P.
  • Sox
  • askye
  • Anne W.
  • -t
  • Liese S.
  • Sophia Brooks

-t did all the piecing and the border. I did the cat-herding!

I am having a drainage system put in. It's a good thing, eventually

Scrappy, the crockpot recipes sound fantastic, but if you want something really quick and easy to fix I might suggest what I had for dinner tonight: spinach ravioli (I used a garlic butter sauce, but I've also heard good things about the Buitoni variety with a red sauce), a nice salad, and grilled focaccia. It took less than 10 minutes to fix and was of the yum.

That does sound good. I like the frozen pastas in general; the Bertolli ones are pretty good too. But I don't do them too much because the SO won't eat them. Which, true they're fairly calorie dense.
