Happy birthday, Matt, Cashmere, and Megan!
My annual fall cold has arrived. So I'll be spending the day watching things like Teen Wolf and Charlie's Angels and drinking oj and hot toddies.
As part of that, I just saw an ad where someone was dressing a woman in the fall trends, which seemed to involve clashing prints, ill-fitting trousers, and high-heels. Is this autumn's trend looking like a hobo with sore feet?
the fall trends
Jesus, I went shopping yesterday when I realized I had holes in the inseam of one of my favorite (VERY OLD) pair of pants (which fall in the category of "work pants" because they are not jeans, although I do wear jeans to work, too). And 90% of the clothes are SO UGLY. I didn't like dolman-sleeve sweaters back in the 80s, and that hasn't changed. Skinny jeans are an abomination unto the Lord (so sayeth the fatass), don't get me started on jeggings, and I really don't need "fun fur" on a damn sweater.
Haaaaaaaaaaate.
I am, however, fine with people wearing high heels with trousers, though I personally don't do it (mostly because I just don't wear high heels).
Hey, if the heels set off an nice outfit, that's great. I was mostly thinking if the whole outfit is fugly, you might as well be comfy, at least.
You made runners do math? That's mean. I mean, maybe just because I haven't had coffee or run 26 miles, but I'd probably have to stop and think to solve for X! But if I didn't stop it would bug me!!

Ah, this is true. On the other hand, you kind of have to applaud the level of commitment to an outfit from hell.

Heh. You could see the wheels churning for some. I do math while I swim (well, factoring and fractions) and actually find it soothing.
I can't do math while running; it's surprisingly hard. Same reason I find podcasts less funny while running. I count down from 200 to try to focus. But I couldn't count down by twos. Relatedly, I ran 9 miles this morning-- my first "long" run in three months. I'm back, baby! Ready to start training for LA!
Happy Birthdays, Birthday people.
I'm having an odd weekend as in, I fell asleep early last evening, woke up around 9 pm, stayed up for a very long time knitting and listening to podcasts. Possibly slept some more and have been up since not sure when, knitting and listening to podcasts.
Just had veggie soup with rice for lunch. (Not homemade - but still good.)
I do have a cold - so perhaps my general sleepiness is due to that.
I just swung by my parents' because family was supposed to be there, but my aunt and uncle were about to go for a walk with my grandmother, and my cousin hadn't showed up yet, so I just hung out with my parents for a bit and then did grocery shopping, so that was good. It is gorgeous out, so I might go do a little more walking before I get a glass jar to come back and make sauerkraut (!!).
fuck, just found out a girl I know -- a masseuse who I got a really great massage from last month -- died in a car accident last night. And the car was driven by someone else I know from the neighborhood who is (physically, anyway) okay. So messed up. It happened on a road we drive on all the time and, while it's kind of dark and windy, the speed limit is relatively low and it seems like a weird place for a fatal accident. I guess anything can happen. I have a couple of friends who are really close to the girl who died & I feel terrible for them.
