I woke up with food poisoning this morning, after missing two days in the office last week with a migraine. I want to destroy the world.

Hah--Jesse, when I dare that, what inevitably happens is I think "ooh, I'll call in sick, and chill, and prevent getting worse, because I feel a bit sickly!" and then instead, I just feel awful a couple days later, but feel like I already burned a sick day when I wasn't feeling awful and what a waste! I hate that.
Oh yeah. I was just remembering a couple of years ago when I got really sick around a big deadline and kept thinking I would stay home to get better, and I kept getting worse and worse and finally had to come in on the day I felt the sickest. Good times!
Ugh, Dana. That sounds terrible.
Oh, Frank, I'm so sorry.
I hope the remaining time will be indeed as peaceful as possible, to all of you. And that you will get to say your goodbyes the way you want to (again, all of you, on all directions). Strength and love to you and all your family.
And, lo, I have discovered that the new developer on my application gets testy when he's working hard. An "would it be useful to know?" question doesn't have to be answered with a terse "I don't know how to do that, I'm doing something else!"
I backed off with "If you see no value in it, I won't pursue it."
He calmed down and...told me to do it. Thanks, bro. Still not a developer, though. I don't actually know how. So it's back to trying to talk other people into doing stuff that's not their responsibility.
Yikes, Dana. Hope you start feeling better soon.
Frank, I'm so sorry. Peace to you and your family.
So, pro tip: Moving with a baby is a hell of a lot harder than moving without a baby. But at least all our stuff is in the new house now, even if it's all just stacked in random piles everywhere that we have to clear a path through every time we want to get to the bathroom or the front door. There's probably just enough time for us to get reasonably unpacked and organized by the time our parents show up for Christmas, at which point we may well be starting to pack for a move to Germany. (No, we don't know yet if that's going to happen, but M says the interview went well and he really liked the town where the university is. Who knows!)
Still to do: call the DPW re: trash removal, call the cable company, hang curtains, finish painting the guest room, unpack all the things, probably throw more stuff out. It would be really great to have a couple more days to settle in, but instead this weekend we're going out of town for a friend's wedding, and next weekend it's looking likely that I'll be going to Kansas City for my grandmother's funeral -- she's apparently declining quite rapidly now. Also, M came home from Germany with a cold, which he then gave to me.
On the plus side, Rose has been sleeping pretty well in her room, and no more ceilings have collapsed! So really, things are looking up.
Dana,
that is fucking no good. I hate being nauseous.
I love though that you go full Illyria when you are sick.
Hmph. Does anyone know a law enforcement officer, or an Interpol agent? I called but they won't talk to private citizens, and I can't find out (book research) if Interpol has jurisdiction in Tahiti.
Anyone?

If you can't find out, no one else can either. Authors are ultimately responsible for knowing. Flag it and tell them they need to fact check.
