Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

And, lo, I have discovered that the new developer on my application gets testy when he's working hard. An "would it be useful to know?" question doesn't have to be answered with a terse "I don't know how to do that, I'm doing something else!"

I backed off with "If you see no value in it, I won't pursue it."

He calmed down and...told me to do it. Thanks, bro. Still not a developer, though. I don't actually know how. So it's back to trying to talk other people into doing stuff that's not their responsibility.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Yikes, Dana. Hope you start feeling better soon.

Frank, I'm so sorry. Peace to you and your family.

So, pro tip: Moving with a baby is a hell of a lot harder than moving without a baby. But at least all our stuff is in the new house now, even if it's all just stacked in random piles everywhere that we have to clear a path through every time we want to get to the bathroom or the front door. There's probably just enough time for us to get reasonably unpacked and organized by the time our parents show up for Christmas, at which point we may well be starting to pack for a move to Germany. (No, we don't know yet if that's going to happen, but M says the interview went well and he really liked the town where the university is. Who knows!)

Still to do: call the DPW re: trash removal, call the cable company, hang curtains, finish painting the guest room, unpack all the things, probably throw more stuff out. It would be really great to have a couple more days to settle in, but instead this weekend we're going out of town for a friend's wedding, and next weekend it's looking likely that I'll be going to Kansas City for my grandmother's funeral -- she's apparently declining quite rapidly now. Also, M came home from Germany with a cold, which he then gave to me.

On the plus side, Rose has been sleeping pretty well in her room, and no more ceilings have collapsed! So really, things are looking up.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Dana,

that is fucking no good. I hate being nauseous.

I love though that you go full Illyria when you are sick.

Hmph. Does anyone know a law enforcement officer, or an Interpol agent? I called but they won't talk to private citizens, and I can't find out (book research) if Interpol has jurisdiction in Tahiti.

Anyone?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Because books.

If you can't find out, no one else can either. Authors are ultimately responsible for knowing. Flag it and tell them they need to fact check.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

If you have a decent relationship with Deb G, you could try pinging her -- I know that at least a couple of her mysteries have involved Interpol, and she's pretty relentless about fact-checking. If any sooper-seekrit Interpol information source exists, she'd know where to find it.

How had I forgotten how much I dislike tracking my calories? But I need to (and I need to keep walking in place at my standing desk), because it's a month until an event, and I'd like to shed some of the weight I put on thanks to the new job.

I am idly considering getting a FitBit. (Pete thinks there's no reason to, and that I won't stick to using it.) I know I need to get at least a pedometer.
