Yes, Plaquemines Parish is in a bad way right now. Send your prayers/thoughts to those folks instead of/in addition to us, because we are pretty much fine.
Glad your folks are doing OK, Dana. I'm in touch with Daisy's family, and they also have power and are doing OK. Our front door is starting to ooze water, which is kind of annoying but not really an issue.
Also, I am happy to have a Chromebook so I can still post on the internets over 3G even when my home internet line is down.

Happy birthday, meara and Jen K!
smonster and Nola, I'm glad you're doing OK.
I got a few messages like that after the Giffords thing. I think because Arizona and politics make people think of me, but maybe it's being used to East Coast geography too.
My thoughts are with New Orleans...too bad it's not just because of Treme starting up again next month.

Kind of? I just feel a little self-conscious, I think.
Nora, is the wind blowing the rain in the door? I guess the winds are shifting.
Okay, self. Do dishes, take meds, and either watch more Nikita or do something productive.
Nobody wants to be a poster girl, smonster.
This is so random, but sometimes I am a genius. I was just thinking about wanting to go Fall clothes shopping "in town" (in my old neighborhood), and was thinking it would be most efficient to go before a massage appointment. I just looked, and my next massage appointment is a week from Saturday at 3pm! Could not be more perfect!

You know I'm tempted to start spamming with political stuff. How ya like me now, friendslist? While I've got your attention...
If you're interested in getting angry about the RNC convention, I present to you Mr. Charlie Pierce: [link]
I just got the best news - the director of Dylan's old daycare (where we'll be sending Aeryn in January) is starting up an afterschool program AND she will be offering pickup from his school!!!
This means we only have to cover 4-5 weeks of childcare in Nov-Dec for Aeryn (our babysitter is having a baby), which we can probably do with the uber-spendy daycare at DH's office. I'm so relieved I can't even tell you.
