"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

What's fair game for this?

Just celebs and models? Public figures? Nothing I've culled elsehwere? (Flickr etc.)

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Construction has finally begun on the long-planned townhouses in the 2.5-acre wilderness plot behind my house. At least, I assume it has, due to the presence of a busy and noisy bulldozer among the young trees.

Pros: Townhouses will probably increase property values of this little neighborhood. The road that will have to built through them will provide a second access road to my house. Increased property values might eventually result in fewer police visits to the adjoining apartment complex.

Cons: No more pleasant wooded area. Displaced wildlife (possums, raccoons, feral/stray cats, skunks, deer) looking for new homes, and eventually less wildlife (yes, more humans/less wildlife is a "con" in my book). Eventually more neighbors/noise. Construction noise for at least a few months.

Of course I've known since I bought the house that this construction would happen, so the bulldozer is not a horrible surprise, but my feeling are mixed. I'll probably be living here long enough to see how it affects me, and if I don't like it, I can always move. The more I fix this place up, though, the less happy I am about the idea of leaving.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So I guess my grandmother is feeling better (they are doing tests), AND the salon was able to rebook the pedi, so I just got the manicure (saving $$) and it is fabulous. Still, my poor mom -- she really needed the break today.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yes--only public figures, Hec. And if for any random reason you have pictures of anyone you know I know (like Leslie Hope), I'm probably not going to post them, because I have permission issues, and it's kind of a thing.

That's why I'm checking.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

yesterday was halfday and then mac to the ortho. That went well and he no longer has to wear a full brace, just a shoe insert on his right foot. woohoo! that means he can start the school year out wearing shorts, and shoe buying just got monumentally easier.

I was so excited for daytime time off that I tried to cram in a bunch of stuff.

went and got a blood draw mac's doc wanted
got the haircut
got meds picked up
did a load of laundry

Now today I am trying to balance my desire to play Mystery Mansion all day with the need to get the house in shape and do last minute school start/nanny start things.

so far:

1 load of clothes drying
another load washing
1 load folded
dishes washed
kitchen breakfast counter cleared and wiped down
a few things picked up

mac even pulled the sheets off his bed.

not too bad for it just being noon.

Oh, and clothes! No nips or genitals on provocateuse.

Hopefully that's not too much work.

Oh, laundry! That would be good for me to do.

Am currently cooking corn, and that's about it.

I wouldn't call it work.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I need to paint my toenails so I can wear sandals to the swanky restaurant we're having dinner at tonight. (Please note that I've been willing to wear sandals to work for WEEKS with a chipped, crap-ass pedicure. But this is different! I'm wearing a dress! A *nice* dress!) And also take a shower. I should clean the bathroom, but I want to believe if I ignore it, the grime will go away.
