brillig

For Royal watchers, this post at Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor has a nice collection of pictures of European royals with their adorable kids enjoying the Games. Prince Phillip is looking particularly spry.

Art Crawl!!!

I saw footage of him watching the dressage and thought he looked as if he'd shrunk, but he was wearing a jaunty hat.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

sumi, I hope your kittycat feels better soon.

also sumi, you'll know this: what's the white stuff on some of the jumpers' legs?

This morning: watching horses jump over things and not getting any work done.

Okay, so if Wills and Harry are 6'3 and 6'4, that new wifey's pretty fricking tall, no? Even with heels.

The stuff smeared on their front legs?

There is/was a fad to smear something (vaseline?) on horses for cross-country under the theory that it help them slip over jumps better. . . Must be a lot of trouble for the grooms and doesn't seem to be as prevalent.

Otherwise: often times horses run with bell boots on as protection for their feet.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Sumi, I hope kitty feels better soon!

Okay, Strix & dcp (and anyone else KC!) shall we set a time and place? It's lunch, Friday the 3rd. I can go wherever is convenient for you guys!

I will have the kiddo for lunch, and I don't know what time is good for dcp, or what part of town is convenient for him.

I don't think either one of you are vegan/vegetarians, right?

My number (redacted in a few hours) is zzz-zzz-zzzz.

Do you mind coming more into the city, Liese, or do we need to drive out a little farther?

Can't wait!

The stuff smeared on their front legs?

I just looked up a couple of the horses online and they don't actually have white markings on their legs, so it has to be something they've put on the front of the horses' legs. Never saw it before. It's white; it's not vaseline.
