Dag, the broker here actually called my last landlord in NYC. And he's an actual person, so he called me to check before giving all my info away. So nice! (I mean, I couldn't give you a person's name at my current landlord if my life depended on it, but as far as I know a single guy about my age owned the building I lived in in Queens.)

The storm is capable of producing 100 mph winds, according to the Weather Service... The line of storms already has produced wind gusts of 90 mph in Winfield in DuPage County about 12:25 p.m., knocking down trees and damage roofs, 59 mph in West Chicago and 52 mph in Batavia, as well as quarter-inch hail in Will County.
I think I'll stay in this afternoon.

Local city hall has declared a kibosh not just on fireworks, but on tiki torches and barbecues and anything else with an open flame. Things are super, super crispy here, and I already know of at least one brushfire in the area.
