Like I said last night, Irene lasted longer but was less intense. And we're to expect more storms today and tomorrow.
OK, going to fill up my water bottles and go do my shopping. Looks like the county faired a little better on the power issues judging by the outage map. City and south took the brunt.
Holy crap - this is my parents front yard after the storm last night. They got REALLY lucky - it missed the car and the power lines (and more importantly, FIOS). Took out a bit of the chimney, but it's not exactly a working fireplace this time of year.
I can't see the picture, Jessica.
Isn't a teacup-grip, with the body positioned at a diagonal, to provide the least amount of target to shoot at, generally the accepted beginner shooting position, with a handgun at least?
The isosceles two-handed square-to-target stance is the modern standard, but I think a modified weaver is still better for low upper-body strength. The female cop on Person of Interest does look pretty solid, but most of the rest of the people are just filling the air with shot.
We're supposed to set an all-time record high today. Sigh.
so it will be 200 degrees there, yes?
My mom might have posted it friends-only - does this link work?
It's a giant oak tree branch covering my parents' front yard.
OMGosh, Jess. I'm glad noone was hurt.
Wow! That's a lot of tree, Jessica.
Holy crap, Jess - glad no one or thing (besides the smoke tube) was hurt. Yikes.
Same tree, different angle
They were lucky it wasn't more - I'm pretty sure this came off the giant double-trunk oak in their front yard. If it had been the whole tree, they'd probably be homeless this morning.
[edit - In that picture, I can definitely see it tangled in some wires, but since they didn't lose power I'm guessing those are telephone lines.]
