Stolen from a friend who stole it from somewhere else:
You are not required to buy health insurance. If you do not, you pay more taxes. If you do not have children, you pay more taxes, if you do not have a mortgage, you pay more taxes, if you do not get married, you pay more taxes, if you do not donate to charity, you pay more taxes, etc. I see no one claiming that the government is REQUIRING you to do any of these things. It is the exact same thing.
That's not a puppy; it's a Muppet.
It's the dragon (?) from Neverending Story!
I am glad I don't have political people I disagree with on my FB.
P-C, that's a great quote.
And man, buying a house is a great way to save on your taxes. IJS. It's a complete scam in favor of homeowners, but nobody sees it that way, even now, when so many people have lost so much in the wake of the housing crisis. Americans still have this almost pathological need to own real property.
Ginger, I've been saying for ages now that actualfax universal health care would be the most pro-business thing imaginable, for just that reason.
Of course, the biggest ranters I'm seeing in my fb stream (all military and busy spreading the "welcome to the socialist republic of amerika!" meme) already have government-provided health care, so it somehow just doesn't get through...
Yeah, I don't chat for fun either. But it's a useful phone substitute at work, and since you can record for faulty memories.
I am over the moon at how poorly thought out this project is from a technical point of view. It's stunning. I know I asked them months ago if we needed new stuff from the DBAs, and everyone told me no, definitely not, ita ! Don't be silly.
We're so fucked. We're up against the wall in two projects--one with insufficient hard drive storage, and one with no database environment.
And it's my fault, somehow. Despite HAVING ASKED and being told one thing, that's the load the project manager assumes. I am not looking forward to facing management today.
Like, seriously, making sure the destination has enough drive space for the files you're copying--I was sliding along assuming that's the sort of thing you check before you ask someone else to copy for you. No, which is why I was on the phone at 3AM Sunday morning.
I'm at the point of (rudely) asking "So, if you had the database, what would you do now? And after that? And then? And then?" because she doesn't seem to grasp the idea of not being blindsided at the last possible moment.
I'm tired of this. It's been a horrible week.

speaking of insurance. I have been disconnected twice by mine on the phone this morning. I am trying to get an answer on why mac's hospital stay from the beginning of May has not been processed. Also want verification that I have met my deductible for mac & I for the year,
That hospital stay is thousands of dollars on my credit card.
I am not even sure I will be able to deal with any conservative crap about this decision on fb.
government owns our bodies
?!?! really? making people have insurance means they own our bodies, but forcing women to carry all pregancies to term, that is freedom and liberty for all.

no shit. I cannot deal.
We have chat at work and we pretty much use it for personal stuff. Lunch dates, cat video links.... It does keep it out of email.
We're explicitly not supposed to do that. We were told that they get we would a little, but do you want that to be the chat that the CIO reads?
