Yeah, I pulled into the work parking lot just as they were announcing on public radio (quoting MSNBC or some big media) that the individual mandate had been declared unconstitutional.
Then five minutes later I had my laptop in the office listening to the same station saying it had been upheld.
Fun!
(Although I was expecting the mandate to be overturned, so the false report didn't surprise me.)
Also, Happy Birthday, David!!
And Matilda needs a blog for all her words of wisdom.
I knew that the Chief Justice was a really nice guy (no, really! he's to the bone a nice person) but I am still surprised.
He's also the only Maryland resident, and he knows of my lost dog.
I will note that this is almost exactly what My History Can Beat Up Your Politics said would happen.
Obamacare is constitutional! Woot!
I actually managed to start my laundry! Woot!
I am do relieved to see the answers here! I haven't checked other news sources yet, so Sparky is where I got it. Yay healthcare!!
Glory hallelujah.
Now the Dems have to finally sell the advantages before November.
Yay, indeed.
I think what the thinky thinkers will need to think on is what this means for social welfare legislation. That is, the Court rejected the argument that it was valid under the Necessary & Proper part of the Commerce Clause which as been a catch-all for social welfare legislation, and trying to legislate these measures under the tax code might be much trickier.

My FB feed is already blowing up with posts saying things like "This is a CRUSHING BLOW for all business owners! No more jobs creation!"
I've opted to not feed the stupid and not even try to reply.
