Good news, Aims. Sometimes just starting the therapy process gives a temporary lift.
'Touched'
Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Aims,
what's up about the tiny feet. I expected another sentence to come after that. You have me on pins and needles.
It worked for George Costanza...for a while.
Hi Shir. You are still amazing. I took a much smaller level action than you today. Our local coop joined the Boycott-Divest-Sanctions movement. Members who object filed a lawsuit on what seems to many of us spurious grounds. So there is a motion to dismiss with prejudice, based on a state law against SLAPP suits (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation).
We had a demo before the hearing a 8:AM where about 40 people showed up. We had 90 supports in the crowd in a hearing at 9:AM.
Incidentally, for you lawyers, the Judge seemed to be asking much more skeptical questions of the plaintiff than of the lawyer on our side. From what I understand, that does not mean he is that likely to rule in our favor. It could be that he understood our attorney's arguments but needed clarification from the plaintiff. I will say that the plaintiff's attorney was annoying, and the judge seemed annoyed. Judges are human, so that has to at least a little bit of a minus on the plaintiff side, yes?
Happy to hear that the first session went well, Aims.
Ginger, a whole bunch of it~ain't~nothin'~ma topped with some super~quick~results ~ma.
Aims, I'm am so glad things went well today. And, I'm glad you're taking care of yourself.
Ginger, all kinds of ~ma. I'm glad you're going in tomorrow. That panic is a bitch (as opposed to a Bitch).
Our local coop joined the Boycott-Divest-Sanctions movement
Is the BDS against all Israeli products, or just against the stuff they make in the occupied territories?
(btw, an anecdote - the only place in Is/Pal where they grow ginger, apparently, is in the occupied territories. I'd say about 40% of the rants of local BDS supporters here is just about that and how they can't get ginger anywhere. Yes, really).
Also, dude, it's impressive and really not a small thing to change a coop's policy.
One last thing - did you hear about Eretz Yoshveyha (Land of its Inhabitants)? [link] One of the few things that give me hope around here. They really changed (or refined) my mind about some points, but only in such a way that made me quite angry about some old fashioned techniques of the left here. Case in point - BDS from other countries is one thing, but diving the people (all of them) here over another issue just won't work for any side. We need to find out what we agree on first. Finding new things to disagree about is nothing new from the media and government.
As if I could just as easily get out of the house and run into one of you.Don't tease me like that!!
Aims, glad the first session went well. I should try that opposite thing. Lord knows my armchair gets plenty of workout, and the chores pile up. If only opposite thoughts worked on muscles... "you have tired muscles, nope, they are opposite, now get up and tidy the place". That's the big culprit for me, that gets me sitting in the first place. Once down. I'm out for the count. That whole "body at rest tends to stay at rest..." thing, I suppose.
Ginger, there's a semi should be backing up to your driveway with a whole trailer full of it's-nothing-ma. More if you run out, let me know.
Aims, I'm glad it went well. And yes, what's it about the tiny feet?
ChiKat, I've been thinking of you. My sympathies.
sj, I've been so overjoyed about your house, and terribly horribly full of glee at your agent's reply to the first-house-people. Nyah! It's so odd, when you posted pictures of the interior of the first place, I really wanted to grab my kit and race up to redo those rooms for you. Not necessarily in your style, I realized later, just to blot out evidence of those owners. Pictures of the new place? Look like they feel wonderful inside.
Shir. All of Israel. The apartheid system has become so integral to the way Israel works that it is really hard to separate out from the rest of Israeli society. Very few Israeli products here that don't include components or ingredients from occupied territory in any case.
Just to reassure you, does not mean cutting off contacts with Israelis or refusing to allow Israelis scholars access to libaries or internship programs. It does mean not funding Israeli institutions, or in most cases not doing institution to institution joint projects - the same thing in meant in the case of South Africa, when many teams would not play against even integrated SA soccer teams as long as the society remained legally segregated.
