BWAH! But go team you!
To be clear, I win fighting the battle of insecurity, not "I win and he loses."
Well, sure. I mean, the invitations have already gone out.
I nearly choked.
I have a KJV with my name embossed on the leather cover in gold that my (Southern Baptist) grandfather gave to me in high school.
When I flew home last week with a cold, I impulse-bought a phenylephrine nose spray for the sinus congestion. It worked quite nicely. Doesn't do shit for me taken internally, but squirting it directly into my nose definitely helped. Short term fix, though.
My international date line: Hey babe, do you come to this time zone often?

Happy New Year to the timely advanced among us!
Seska, wishing you a good rest and lots of ~ma.
Still having fun with the sister. Time going too quickly, don't want her to leave. We watched more Justified last night after a drink (her) or two (me) at a neighborhood bar. I took the opportunity to do my nails. I started going nuts with the glitter on my fingernails, ended up with NINE COATS of polish. Base coat, two of dark purple, purple glitter, red glitter, turquoise glitter, green glitter, multi-glitter, top coat. Went to bed shortly after and my nails are fine!!! That top coat is the BOMB. I predict a white night for this seminar.
Kill me now.
Sadly, magnesium is supposed to help against migraines, and is in most of the herbal migraine prevention stuff, so now I just take Vitamin B and Vitamin D
I'm on all those, and I can really tell when I let the magnesium lapse. It makes the most obvious difference. Of everything I take prophylactically. God knows why I still have such a hard time maintaining a pill-taking routine, though. Probably because it seems to change so often? I dunno. For someone who's been on multiple prophylactics for years I'm pretty crap at it.
In re: Bibles - I am a serious Bible geek. My PhD title will be Biblical Studies, (only slightly) oddly. Although, now that I've transferred to a university that claims to have one of the best Biblical Studies departments in the world, I am hugely intimidated by the people researching things like the dating of the Gospel of Mark, and medieval German translations. I own five Bibles. Including a KJV that belonged to my great-grandfather. I've recently started giving them to charity shops. I did not need eight of the things.
dating of the Gospel of Mark
I thought there was a pretty good consensus that it was written shortly after the destruction of the Temple in 70 CE. Is that not the case?
Whenever I read serious analysis of gospel dating et al, I always get so lost and start thinking, "But how do you *know* that!" Which, of course, would involve lots of study of linquistics and textual analysis and other stuff that makes me twitchy and frustrated and feeling very stupid.
Does anyone have New Year's Eve plans this year?
TCG is playing First Night, and I'm staying home with one of my new books and also making a pot of lentil soup (it's supposed to be good luck for the New Year in Italian tradition).
ETA: We're not doing our usual NYD party this year because the holidays were too rough on us this year, and we just need a break. So, I have no cooking cleaning to do for that tonight.
I plan to eat ice cream, watch tv, and make no resolutions.
Staying home, finishing off the holiday ham and watching the rest of
The Killing,
which I am rather meh about but the DH is digging.
We are actually going to a big party in a hotel ballroom that involves dinner, dancing, and a drag show. I don't think I've ever been to a NYE party this big before. I'm wearing my tiara. (No, really.)
