We are actually going to a big party in a hotel ballroom that involves dinner, dancing, and a drag show. I don't think I've ever been to a NYE party this big before. I'm wearing my tiara. (No, really.)

Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I'm going to a bar to meet up with the alumni club to watch the Peach Bowl. Nice and low key, which is good since I'm working a cold.
Sounds fun, Steph! I am debating between a play party (where in theory I might have fun and meet interesting people, but I suspect in reality I will just hang out feeling like a loser), and hanging out with a couple friends who are planning a chill "watch movies and eat before our diets re-start" evening--but hanging out with a couple and a gayboy is even less likely to get me a kiss or anything!
I'm going to stay home and watch movies and read, I think. I really, really don't like being on the road NYE.
Tep, that sounds awesome!
I'm going next door to a party at the neighbor's. Like I do. Tomorrow: brunch at the neighbor's. (A recurring theme.) But maybe I'll wear my tiara tonight, so that I feel fancy.
Oh and tomorrow night, I'm getting together for dinner with a bunch of my former student interns, one of whom is just back from South Africa. Yay!
I am Anne, I think, with additional intentions to clean.
We only got home last night after two weeks of (fun, but exhausting) running around, so we decided to say no to our friends' party invitation and stay in tonight. We both have a ton of work to do over the next few days, and I'm oddly looking forward to just being home working rather than socializing.
Also, living in Pasadena means hiding in our houses this time of year.
Tom - if I were not limited to my phone at the moment, I'd link you to the work of a professor in my dept who thinks it's much earlier than that. He thinks there's evidence from linguistics and cultural references that it's closer to 40AD. I have a hard time believing that, but I'm not the expert!
I am emceeing a big fancy Goth NYE party, put on by the lady who organizes the Vampire Ball. And I'll have Pete and Cass with me!
We'll be having Brie en Croute and lamb tonight and - I don't know - watching something? Emmett's slid over the divide and its harder to get him to watch kid-stuff with Matilda anymore.
Maybe some Avatar would work. Or we could try Fellowship of the Ring on her again. It was a little too epic for her last year.
